Hey I have a near-complete dwarf miner standard bearer:

IMGP1916.jpg

Painted with a whole regiment, so don\'t expect anything too fancy, eh?

Sorry, but I have to disagree... I think the NMM is too dark and not executed well in general... the blendings are very rough and so is the color all in all (more water...:)...)...

I think you should maybe exercise \"usual\" Techniques instead of trying NMM... or try to get more smooth layers... with more water and patience...:D...

***im pretty sure its not meant for display, in which case its fine, the skin is bad, and the NMM on the trim on the robe is a bit weird but the rest is fine, it is well exected as the lighting looks good, the blending only matters for the level you are painting at, why spend 619787489120 hours paintnig one model in a huge fantasy army when they still look good taking half the time?

again if its for display then definetyl smoother, if not, then its good

First of all, I\'d like to thank you and Starks for commenting. It\'s always great to see demonwinners commenting on normal people\'s stuff.

But for the darkness of NMM, I don\'t think it matters, as long as it bears resembleance to gold, brass or steel. I had a very short time to paint everything, and painted the whole unit in about five hours.

It\'s best if you remember that there is a whole unit of these guys :bouncy:

Actually I quite like the candle wax, the pink in it makes it look like it\'s actually melting. :drunk:

PS: Post 300.

Ok theres a good reason I like the nmm on this. The guys got a candle on his head..why would he have a candle on his head?

The nmm suits dark ,I think, for this mini.
And I just like to disagree with mat on the grounds of jealousy. :p

Thanks guys!

Oo! A skin recipe, looks good :)

I\'m glad people like the candle, I\'d like to thank Tagron for inspiration on that (see his dwarf lord).

Nice work so far Ainu :)

While the NMM is a little rough, it certainly looks like metal and you seem to have the technique down perfectly. Candle is also cool, I dare you to add some OSL :D

Anyway, bloody fantastic for one in a regiment painted in 5 hours

I want more!

He looks cool for such an iffy Sculpt...

Agree with the above some of the blends are a bit rough but it works..

As for practising normal techniques and patience..I don\'t see anythig wrong with practising techniques this way ..If anything trying NMM teaches you a lot about patience ,,highilghting and transitions so why not..

Go you ..keep trying and one day you\'ll nail the whole lot.

P.S Demonwinners are normal people too..they\'ve gone through all the same learning things you have....;)

The same goes from me as for the blends. The skin could use some more subtile blends. Mayby try using GW Dark flesh as the shadows then highlight it with dwarf flash and for the final cut use some tanned flesh. Just try to Make it in 5 layers so that it would look like this.

1 st coat Dak Flesh
2 nd coat 50/50 mix of Dark Flesh and Dwarf Flesh.
3 rd coat Dwarf Flesh
4 th coat 50/50 mix of Dwarf Flesh and Tanned Flesh.
5 th coat Tanned Flesh.

You can try this out on some character from a dwarf Army and it will still stick to this scheme if you are planning a bigger army ;]

But all the other details look great to me the Nmm could use some smoothing out but mayby is just me :] And I like the way you made this candle on the helmet !

Nice work Ainu. A whole unit of these would look great. the colors are good and they will look great on the table top. I would be voting a 6-7 for an individual and 7-8 for the unit. great stuff.

Nice :)

Really nice work here,

The nmm is really good, but no one has mentioned the obvious, it is dark because he is a Miner and you just can keep the shiny things clean under the earth!!!!

I agree with the flesh comments aswell tho but as it was a unit in 5 hours who really cares!!!

Bloody good job buddy!!!
