eBay advice needed

I feel like a noob asking for advice on this but here goes.

I recently bought a couple of minis on eBay from a seller with overall very good feedback. However since payment was made the seller has not indicated the minis were shipped nor responded to any messages (two, to be exact). Obviously no package has arrived either.

Interestingly, since I won the items, several VERY bad feedbacks have appeared in the seller\'s profile (LINK). Plus there are several slightly older ones that I swear I didn\'t see there before (my bad, to be fair).

It looks like I\'ve been screwed, but what I don\'t understand is what use the feedback system is, if lots of good feedback is not an indicator of a trustworthy seller?

Also is there anything I can DO other than leave bad feedback? I\'ve just opened a dispute through Paypal. Will filing a dispute do anything to either get my money back or sanction this seller in any way?

Thankfully this was not a very expensive lesson! Still, my money is my money

Give PayPal a few days to get back to you.

Recently I bought a DVD from a reputable seller, and they sent me the wrong one. I contacted them and returned the DVD, and they told me they\'d send the right one as soon as they got the wrong one back.
Well, nearly a month later, with nothing in the mail, I contacted them again to find out they hadn\'t even sent it yet, and they even had to ask what I had ordered again (even though it said in the previous emails I attached to the last one). So I thought \'to hell with them\' and contacted PayPal about getting my money back. A few days later, PayPal emailed me back saying they reviewed my complaint and decided in my favor anad refunded my whole amount.

So, I\'d say wait and see what PayPal says.

:( Sorry you got ripped, hopefully you get refunded.

Sorry , but I must say that buyers are sometimes very stupid (nothing offensive).
Maybe this guy is sick or something happened to him? Think that he is also a human being , and maybe there\'s something very bad going on with him Do\'Oh :/

Recenlty we (as a studio) sold a mini to a guy...
We had written that : WE DON\'T ACCEPT PAYPAL...
The guy didn\'t respnd for 2 months and we gave him a negative feedback Linky link ;)

And the culprit obnoxiously replied another linky ;)

Pff, now we have paypal , and all our rules , are the same , if just some people could read what is written MEGA DO\'OH

no honour at all :/

Not only sellers are unfair , but buyers also :/:D

Had a simaler thing happen to me recently. Bought an item (minis as well) paid for item, and then waited. After waiting the full time the seller said it would take to ship plus a few days I noticed that negative feed back started popping up on his feedback page. Well I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt so I contacted him and told him that I was about to rport him. Well, he contacted me back and promised to ship my stuff immediately.

So I would contact the guy first (If you haven\'e already) before leaving negative feedback

Hope this helps

All the negative feedback that has been left are on items where the bid ended at 0.1$ or 0.99$... But since yours is alot higher, I don\'t think there is a connection anyways...

I\'m sorry to hear that NSA... how much money are we talking about here ???

In my experience, people don\'t generally want to give negative feedback unless they feel they really have to, because of the risk of getting negative feedback themselves, so if a guy has more than a few complaints I think that\'s a big warning sign.

But don\'t worry, as long as you\'ve paid through paypal you\'re insured by Ebay for up to 200 dollars (up to 1000 dollars if the seller has a very good rating and I\'m not remembering badly). As long as you complain within a reasonable amount of time that the item hasn\'t arrived, paypal will do a chargeback and you\'ll get your money back. Buyers are much more protected on Ebay than sellers are.

Wag1809, that happened to you twice?;)

Start the process with PayPal, NSA, and wait for the shite to start flying.

Inform your seller that you\'ve lodged a complaint about non-received item. He should respond to this.

The two times this has happened to me as a buyer, the sellers have come out of the woodwork after receiving notice the lodged complaint from Paypal. Good luck.

to reverse the payment through paypal you have 45 days. To file an e-bay complaint you have 90 days. If I remember correctly.

I\'ve already started a dispute through Paypal. Hopefully that will get his attention if anything will.

I don\'t want to leave negative feedback lightly, because I only have 3 feedback and a vindictive cheater could pretty much screw me with even one tit-for-tat negative. Whereas my negative would be a drop in the bucket for him. Makes noobs pretty vulnerable, IMO.

Sorry to hear of your problem NSA. It is real unfortunate when sellers behave like this. I had a simalair situation with a seller when I just started out on ebay. I went through the whole filling thing and it worked.

As a seller or as a buyer I am very cautious when leaving negative feedback. I make sure I cover my ass 1st.

Put a complaint in to Ebay. If those other buyers who left a neg do the same, Ebay\'ll pull the account.

The Ebay feedback system is an utter joke. I wouldn\'t bother leaving a comment.

the feedback generally works well..However there is never any guarantee..As Hashmallum says Things can happen that effect delivery times communication etc..
I feel that with ebay and other auction sites there is an element of trust involved on the buyers part..Unfortunately where this is the case then trust can be broken..Feedback is a very useful tool to all traders on ebay..I recently reached 200 with 100%positive and the prices my minis go for have shot up since then..I work very hard to maintain communication and deliver goods in perfect condition to ensure my customers are happy..Unfortunately there are those out there that start off OK then everything falls down around them..In these cases unfortunately somebody has to lose out and this seems to be you this time NSA..But you\'ve done the right thing and hopefully Paypal will view it as it is and you will get your money back...fingers crossed and good luck..

Wow, have you seen your seller\'s feedback recently, NSA? He got 6 more feedbacks just today (from 2 different buyers) and neither are very happy.....:flame:

I think you have a better chance of getting your money back than seeing your minis....:(

Keep us informed on what happens!

I bought a book on ebay via paypal and had pretty much the same experience. I paid out of my checking account with paypal, so their protection policy was quite good. I got a full refund through paypal within about 30 days.

I wouldn\'t hesitate to give negative feedback to someone like that. You can respond to any negative feedback he retaliates with, and anyone who is seriously looking at your feedback is going to check him out if you say \"this is retaliation feedback\" in your response.

Dispute Console usually brings those ones out of the waterwork for me.

Seeing as a few negs have surfaced recently, its possible something has happened to prevent the painter sending stuff out to people. That said im more inclined to believe its just someone being shonky, it usually is.

Im in a similar situation right now. I bought something, it didnt arrive, I questioned the seller as to the date of postage and he suddenly wasnt there anymore. I emailed a few more times before using the Dispute Console. The next day I got an email saying that they had lost internet as they had moved house and were very sorry.
I suspect this is BS as they had a couple of negs from a while back, people complaining of a lack of item and correspondance. The sellers reply was that they had no internet at the time ;)

Anyway I got the items (which were within my country) a month later. Now im faced with the decision of whether or not to leave Negative feedback. Im pretty sure it will mean I will get retaliation neg, but im still leaning toward doing it, otherwise whats the point of the feedback system (which is rather flawed anyway in my opinion).

Zordana,
That\'s exactly what Neutral feedback is for. You got your item, but it wasn\'t pleasant. In the end you got what you wanted, but you want to let people know they could do better. You aren\'t happy or completely pissed off, so you\'re just neutral.

I sold a few items over a year ago, and had to post 3 to the U.S and canada. Just before moving house, and having no t\'internet access. They took FOREVER to reach the buyers at which point they had already contacted me (with no reply due to no internet) and then paypal who refunded them and billed me. I have since found out that at least 2 of the 3 had received the items but have not informed paypal they have (the 3rd being for £80\'s worth of epic mini\'s which I suspect thay have received as well as their refund, so they must feel like their birthday came early). The bottom line is that I am now £100 out of pocket and people got their models and a refund.

The point I am making is that paypal will sort this out for you, but please persist with the buyer. There may be a GENUINE reason for the delay. Try ohter avenues, is there a contact no. on the invoice sent etc?

Hope it works out for you mate.

P.S- to the poster above me, people DO move house and DO NOT always have internet access- real life happens as well as painting mini\'s mate!

Sorry Markstorch, was meant for Zordana, the poster above you!, and the point I am making was to sometimes give people the benifit of the doubt. The moving house scenario is too big a thing to just make up and one ebay and paypal can verify with invoice addresses ect. Just a bit peeved that they dismissed it a B.S when a similar thing happened to me and I was £100 out of pocket for it...
