eBay does it again!

Yup those buggers at eBay cancelled my auction again. Why? Well because my auction consisted of pornographic material.

So a pair of boobs qualifies as pornography? How many auctions have I seen with bare breasted minis? This is the first one I\'ve heard of being cancelled for this reason. Hmmm. Either someone\'s out to get me and/or its Friday the 13th.

Good golly I must have offended some bible-thumping Alabaman hillbilly, and ruined his sensibilities for life!

Question is...Do I repost the auction under their adult content rules. Or do I block out the offending nipples and just repost it in the same category? Ideas anyone?

Grrrrrrr.:flame:

Pornographer!!!

I think it\'s absolutely disgusting that perverts like you can blatantly advertise these inch high \'ladies of ill repute\'.
Don\'t you realise that over-sexed men buy these artifacts to fuel their lust!!!

God I am depressed! The thougt of EBay, as our moral guardians! It\'s a thought that doesn\'t bear too much scrutiny.

Angela, I really don\'tknow what to suggest. I think the \'adult content\' option is a no-no because, as far as I know, no-one outside of America will be able to view your auction. This is a bit of a guess, but I can vouch for the fact that as UK citizen I wont be able to view it. Making it a USA only auction is likely to hugely restrict your potential buyer-base.

Personally I would be tempted to. a) appeal against their decision and b) simply post it again. They seem to do fairly random searches and it may pass through unnoticed a second time. Your last options is to just blur those nips in case they overly excite some of eBays customers.

You couldn\'t invent this level of stupidity if you tried!!

Best of luck....!

Great, now eBay are Breast Nazis...

The stupid thing is that they\'re an independent company and there\'s no \"free speech\" act in effect. But what do they count as art and pornographic, hmm?

A quick search for \"breast\" showed a 17th century print of a woman falling out of her dress. Also, a listing for women\'s breast enhancers (bra stuffers) that had a centerfoldlike model for the preview image!

I\'m just as discusted at eBay as you are, if not more. We\'re selling art here and they count it as pornographic. Also, I\'ve seen much more blatantly sexual things get past the censors, so I think there must be someone watching you... Canadian 1984? :p

More GRRRRRRR

Well I just listed it under adult content, and now the link for the CMON featured auction thing doesn\'t work.

*really nasty expletive deleted*!!!!!!!!!!!

The worst thing is... they have!! ???

Angela... couldn\'t you do as you suggested and cover the offending (???) area and link it to your website for additional pics?

No I can\'t. I just looked at the \"rules\" covering this. Even if I censored the pictures, the fact that the boobies are still actually there in real life is the main problem.

Also if I link to a site with the boobies, it\'s still a nono.

It\'s also a bloody pain in the gluteus maximus to get to an Adult auction. Even for me the seller!

Oh yeah and Paypal can\'t be used with Adult auctions either. So now I\'ve cancelled it entirely...again. So far this auction has cost me more than $5 to not post with all the eBay and CMON fees.

As of now I have NO auction running (though she is still for sale ;) ) because of this mess.

I\'m sorry I had to start my very first topic on the forum like this. But after seeing so many other rant about similar stuff, perhaps it was just my time. Sorry.

Still...

Who the hell asked eBay to be our moral compass anyway? ???

I’m sorry to hear this… I ran a shop on ebay for a while and have recently given it up. WAY too much hassle for the payoff… Five dollars in listing fees? Good golly.

But that ebay question is rhetorical, right? We’ve all given it the power to supervise our buying habits just through using it, and I am sure that the old lady who collects hundreds and hundreds of ceramic kittens has far more say over what is “morally acceptable” than me with my little tiny pittance of a feedback history. So even though they are a corporation and are free to do whatever the heck they want, they’re pandering to the common denominator.

And it probably wasn’t some hillbilly… It was probably some housewife who thinks that Thomas Kinkade embodies divine inspiration and was APPALED that their children could possibly catch a glimpse of the human form. After all, hasn’t some form of intervention given us the gift of shame and the knowledge that we must be clothed at all times? And why acknowledge that we all basically look the same… little deviations for weight and color and dangly bits aside, it’s basically just the same cookie cutter.

Anyhow, is it possible to avoid ebay altogether and stick that little lady in your local gaming store? She might be an “eyecatching” advertisement for custom work (although you might have to dance the Arbitrary Morals Tango there, too.)

Take it as a compliment! Even if the censors don\'t know art from porn, they must recognize its realism. Other mini sellers on eBay routinely post their topless female creations with adult verification required, so you must not be the only one who gets the honor of eBay\'s attention. Repost the picture here and play the game with eBay. My guess is that a repost would do well.

interesting that they pulled your auction but let the 2 Slave Auctions go to end...you know the miniature set I mean, the OOP Slave Auction. I saw 2 of them last week or the week before. And they weren\'t listed as Adult Content *sigh*... and your miniature was very well done!

eBay insanity.

There is just no sense in this and no consistency in their seemingly arbitrary rules. It took less than 30 seconds searching to come up with this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3526876383&category=20118

Presumably as the seller has labelled this \'fine art\' it is acceptable. Don\'t get me wrong, I see no reason for this article to be pulled either, but how can this be acceptable, whilst a 28mm miniature is not?

Answers on a post card please..:bouncy:

2 things

1) Fankly eBay has the right to pull whatever they want, The same as any other business. My guess, however, is that once you are labelled (say, after a huge multinational game company has complained about you) you are checked much more closely.

A complaint brings you to light. A complaint from a company like GW puts you on \"the list\".

2) re: the picture from eBay listed in the posting above - ever noticed how easy it is to spot implants?

Angela I\'ve got a simple solution for you, fig leaves. We can all pay homage to the renaissance church and add tiny little (removable, blue tack?) fig leaves to those miniatures that may be too exciting for the amish.

That sucks!!:flame::mad::flame::mad:
I HATE stupid censorship laws and rules. Makes me tempted to put up dozens of auctions with the dirtiest pics I can find!
ummm... [rant off]
Sorry those jerks screwed ya over Angela.:(

Thanks guys.

Sorry I had to complain like that. I just wanted to have some shoulders to bawl on and warn others of my plight. All the advice and jokes made me feel a part of this unique community we have here. It\'s cool that way.

Fredy suggested posting it under another country\'s eBay site, and I think it could work that way too *Thank you!* But I will try it in some months if she doesn\'t sell otherwise.

I\'ve been on eBay since 1997 and have never EVER had as much frustration with it , until I began miniature auctions.

And thank you so very much Chern Ann for the credits. You are far too kind.:wow: Is this guy awesome or what?:]

This marks the end of my rant (tho I\'m still mad) and good painting to all!

Peace!

Sorry to hear about your experience - it just mirrors several other things I have heard going on on EPAY - especially in the adult sections.
