You know when you see something and you think - hey, that would make an interesting building?

Well, this was the inside of a Duracell box of batteries :p

Got some more fencing and stuff to add before undercoat.

Isn\'t there a cream for that?

@DaN: You sir, are a genius. I haven\'t developed that thought process yet. I envy you the ability to see the \"what could be\".

Very nice.

A bit largeish, but very nice.

And the only interesting thing I ever found in a shipping box was a Portuguese language Biology textbook. Still got it around here somewhere.

Since I\'ve yet to buy any significant quantity of plastic minis, I\'ve got near zero bits. But, I keep going through stuff and thinking \"this would look cool on... er, well... something... at some time... maybe\" and into my hobby box it goes. Got a bunch of disposable contact lens cases, plastic retainers, and other stuff like that. I may have to start scratch building space ships just to use up junk.

Oh, and the whole point of this was to say that it looks cool and it\'ll be interesting just how much detail you could put into this.

Looking forward to seeing finished one. More progress than me, I\'ve got some great inners from router and mobile boxes, but all just stashed at the moment. Make great Epic stuff though

Looking very cool Dan! One thing I may suggest though is that type of packaging is very brittle and also a pain in the arse to get paint to stick to. Do you have any spray varnish? I have had to varnish certain plastics before priming just to get the bloody paint to stick!

If you have any scrap of the similar material I would test it first though as different plastics react differently to sprays.

@Roger - Marcel Duchamp...? :p I\'m not sure if that\'s an insult or not :D

Anyhoo - here\'s some progress with more fencework and undercoat. Cheers for the heads-up OD, but the spray seems to have adhered fine.

Trying to work out what and where to place vegetation too...

My suggestion would be to put the heaviest vegetation in the corners and around the objects. Then, I\'d flock the rest, but leave some open space to be dirt paths going around it. Maybe animal trails or the such.

Depending on the amount of abandonment you want to simulate, you might do some more vegetation, sparsely of course, anywhere where dirt might accumulate. For example, on the inside parts of the two big \"tanks\" on the left and right, where all the ridges are, and crack between the middle two \"tanks\".

Its looking really cool. It\'ll be really interesting to see if finished. Curious what you\'ll do with when its done? Do you play, or will it go up on eBay? Or pass it along to a friend?

Or is it more of an Everest type thing? Just because its there, you had to paint it. :D

@Peg- I was more wondering what SORT of vegetation to use. I was thinking of some climbing ivy on the fences, but I dunno if I can manage it as I\'ve never tried it before.

As for what I\'ll DO with it: eBay :p

Ok another update.

Started with a little tall grass vegetation on the outskirts of the facility as I\'m still painting. I\'ve decided I want it to look quite beat up and dilapidated, so I\'ll be adding some more later on (Along with flocking eventually)

PS. Anyone have any ideas how to fashion Ivy/climbing plant...?

Ah... well, from your update, I think that\'s working so far. You could put in a couple of small scraggly trees, clumped very close together somewhere. As they\'d have grown naturally and so aren\'t properly spaced.

Be sure to mix in a lot of dead vegetation with anything living. It\'d show several seasons of decay. And tumbleweeds.

Hmm... does England even have tumble weeds? Russian thistle I think is the real name. Need to put bunches of dead ones piled up in the corners.

You know what... you might get some small white rock to place around the equipment as well. Okay, maybe doesn\'t have to be white. White was for high visibility areas and river rock was for hidden sites. I\'m thinking back to my oil field days here, where we\'d spread rock around the equipment. I think it was to keep things from getting too weedy. But as the rock was laid down, then abandoned, go over it with something that would look like dirt. Would add some additional realism.

I\'m a continent away, so I\'m against the ivy idea. Central plains area was where I grew up, so that\'s where my ideas and preferences are coming from. But, you could go get some fishing line or probably better would be very thin floral wire or jewelry wire. Mostly because you could get it in green so wouldn\'t have to paint it. Don\'t know what you\'d do for the leaves, unless they make a glitter in leaf shape.

This might also be a good time to start rummaging through your bits as well. Pull out the stuff that doesn\'t work well with anything else and build a junk pile somewhere, plus little pieces of junk scattered. Some rusty barrels would be nice, and maybe a broken vehicle.

And I\'m too lazy to edit the above for tone. Don\'t mean to sound so commanding as I wrote. Just suggestions!
