@Peg - Cheers, that\'s kinda what I was thinking.

I did wanna have a single tree on there, but I thought it might make it difficult to P&P when it comes to eBaying it...

For dead stuff I was gonna have some different colours to the grass (to show dry areas etc) and thought about using mixed herbs for general leaf litter/detritus in the corners of the actual buildings.

Tumbleweeds. Hmm. Probably not over here - the equivalent would probably be plastic bags or traffic cones lol

I know what you mean about the rock, but for gaming purposes I think I\'m gonna leave the outside relatively clear.

As for the ivy, yeah, I thought about using thin wire, but I imagine that would be uber fiddly :( I\'ll maybe do a creeper or two and see how it looks. At least ivy leaves are an easy shape to cut.

I\'ve got some barrels too, so I\'ll see how they end up lookin.

Updates to come soon :p

good stuff. i haven\'t read all the thread coz i am in a rush but i would say it needs weathering to break up the colours

Antenociti\'s Workshop sells a number of different modelling vegetation, including ivy leaves (leaf litter painted green with colourfast and UV resistant paints).

Yeah, can\'t really afford to get stuff at the mo... :(
Basil looks ok for general leaf litter, I dunno if I\'ll bother with ivy.

Latest.
Experiment with Heather/Gorse bush type plants.

Decided to try a Little ivy... Not sure if I like it.

I think it\'s rocking! looking real good!

have my thoughts of the groundwork though... it\'s not looking that convincing as the rest, too wet? but maybe that\'s how it\'s intended? maybe some small spots of \"dried\" looking grass (shorter, static grass dry-brushed in earth tones) here and there...?

Even though you\'re probably nearly done with this by now, I think it needs a LOT more grass. Mostly where the fence has fallen down the left side, and then between the barrels and the \"caps\".

I\'ve only just started flocking the base! lol

And it\'s taking bloody ages :p
I\'ll probably have finished one half by the end of today :p

I did read it. By flock, my mind sees the shredded foam stuff that\'s been dyed a terrain color.

If\'n you\'re calling that long stringy grass stuff \"flock\", have fun flocking yourself! lol Don\'t do it too much or you\'ll have \"flocker\'s palm\".

I\'d just hate to see the 20 or so clumps of grass be it, and the rest of it just formless green or brown. Course, by now just saying the word \"grass\" probably makes you heave a little.

In fact it makes me want to listen to some Gomez. lol

Just to let you know, the internet at home is currently down, so updates will be a bit slower :(

I have progressed further with the flocking however, and about half the base is now covered.

PS. I regard \"Flock\" to be pretty much ANY scatter material, such as static grass, coloured sawdust, sand etc etc

The flock I am using is standard summer green static grass.

The taller clumps of grass are the bristles from a large domestic paint brush (The green tufts simply dipped in gobbo green)

And the brown areas of earth is multipurpose filler.

nice! and will you \"paint\" the grass as well? could use some yellow n brownish tones. I guess it\'s gona be a \"road\" up to the plant?

I like it..

Aye, although I really wanted to get some more static grass that colour. GW only do that green and a dark brown \"burnt\" colour.

Anyone know who does...?
I was sure Annocetti\'s (sp?) site did, but I cant remember the address and I forgot to bookmark it :/

I usually just dry brush the static grass after glueing and covering it with some \"sealer\" of sorts, ie spray glue or dull cote, that works for me.

Ta for the link FoM, but they\'re a bit expensive - the bags must be huge :p

ALSO:

Grass Master

£117.00
Add to basket
60130

Great for those tall grassy areas.

Suitable for use with all Static scatter materials this Electro-Static Flocking device greatly enhances the scenic look of any layout.

To use, coat the surface treated with glue and fill the Grass Master container with your chosen mix of Static Grasses. Connect the ground electrode to a site on the layout and from about 10cm sprinkle the Static Grass from the Grass Master.

The Static produced stands the Static Grass fibers up creating a 3D effect.

£117!???

Or just buy a balloon and rub it against ur head - 20p :p
