This is sad to hear, I was really hoping to attend one year. Always loved the high quality of work on display there.

This is all the site says:

[h=2]31 years of arguably the most famous Military Modelling show in the world![/h] [h=2]The 2016 Euro Militaire will be the last.[/h]
Euro2016%20%28259%29.jpg
Founded and organised since 1985 by a local group of modelling experts and enthusiasts in the Folkestone region and sponsored for the last ten years by My Time Media, the show is no longer sustainable for a variety of reasons not least the critical decrease in the numbers of the original local organising team and its volunteers, but also a downward trend in both the numbers of visitors to the show and competition entries in recent years.
Thank You to everyone involved over the years.

Wow, it's been a long long time since I posted anything, shame it has to be about such sad news ...

A quick historic note, Euro was set up with the help of Ray Lamb as a figure show with armour being added later, so more BMSS than IPMS.

As for venue and access, the old games days proved you could get the European modellers to Birmingham/Nottingham with the airports in that area. I'll also have a word with some of the Figure World guys, I should be meeting a few of them at Bugle Call on the 27th, but the Figure World venue itself isn't suitable for anything much larger than it already is.

With regard to traders, I think you need to look more at the suppliers of larger pieces than Hasslefree, something more like Kirtley, El Greco, Pegasso and the like. If you want to include planes, trains automobiles as well as AFS's and boats then you will need to invite kit sellers, then there are people like MDP with the basing materials and Avid Reader for books. I doubt they will assist with organisation though, they support the shows though the table charges they pay. The important thing is finding a slot in the calendar that isn't taken, although one has obviously just become available.

Good advice about the suppliers and the date. I will get a proper business plan together and work through the minutiae if this. No point going of half cocked and landing in a pile if cack and nothing actually happening.

As far as societies go, there is the IPMS and BMSS (as far as the later goes I can ask Robert if he has any suggestions re contacts)
But there is also the flat figure society ...

That's the only 3 I can think of off the top of my head

Prawn I am grateful for your feedback here I am as we speak putting together a business plan and sketching out what needs to be done and if it is actually a viable proposition. If I could PM you when I have looked into what needs to be done to make sure it is a success and have a proper chat?

Euro-militaries Expo

There’s been rumours y’know.
So let’s put them to rest.
Euro Militaire closed it’s doors for the last time in September 2016, much to our dismay, and there was a lot of discussion about what needed to happen.
However,
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them...... Ah, I think the A Team ended too.......
Looks like you’re stuck with us then.
Yes, there will be a show in Folkestone in 2017. Over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of September in fact. And yes, it’ll be in the Leas Cliff Hall.
So yes, it’s the dates that you had expected, and yes, we’d like you all to be there.
What’s changed ?
• Well, the people organising it have – there’s four of them - Steve Kirtley, Richard Wharton, Thomas Hopwood and Adrian Hopwood.
• The Competition – Open style with a lot fewer classes and focusing on displays rather than individual model entries.
There’s probably other things too, but we’re just at the beginning of the process, so we still have a lot to sort out.
With all that said, we really hope that you’ll give us your support; because we believe that we can host a welcoming and inclusive show with all the best aspects of what’s gone before.
So please rebook your hotel, join us in Folkestone and let’s make it work.
Steve, Richard, Thomas and Adrian.

I'm not involved in organising this just happy to see I'm not losing the show.
