I don\'t feel like reading all that

Let\'s have a collective hug and sing \"why can\'t we be friend, why can\'t we be friend\" instead.

On second thought I did read all this, and got kin of a \'deja-vu\' feeling.
I just picked up this bit because I felt it really sum it up:

I don\'t believe there is any way to alter or adjust this--it is just the nature of the CMoN beast. I still post completed minis in the hopes of breaking that magical \"8\" but that\'s just me.

Whenever I post something, the rating is very important to me, I will look often to see how it progress, and fantasize about it being high 7 as the forum goer and people who (Maybe) appreciate me vote first and then I get increasingly uncertain of my overall talent as the tide of strangers, fanboys, and snipers erode the score until it\'s low 6.
It takes an effort from my part to get to not care about the scoring and then laugh at it.
And it\'s only human as we all look for recognition of our pairs, whatever we do in life, and for many this site is the main feedback we get about what we toiled so long and hard to produce. I for myself live in a place where few people even know about wargame miniatures, let alone painting them, and without CMON there wouldn\'t be much point to what I do, besides the dream that I might on day become a demon winner.

I can relate to the frustration though I reckon Tidocco\'s work is a thousand time more worthy of these highscores, I been there before, and even did the \'removing the gallery\' thing, which only made it worst, has all my repost are 0.5-0.8 points lower now, which shows the overall direction of the voting system.

GreenOne- You\'ll win a demon one day for sure. Every step you take is forward, and you\'ve listened and acted upon all advice and crit hurled your way.

I would like to enter the Demon\'s one day. It might be fun to hook up at Games Day. The only thing keeping me from going previously was that as Grey Knight volunteer I would be roped into working the event instead of attending. I\'d love to see how I do, and my dream would be of making the first cut.

The discuss submission parts of the forum along with the WIP\'s is the best area to learn from. I think the scores around here are pretty fair, and I DO get hung up in the scores.

One thing I focus on is the registered users score more than the general unpaid subscribers. I find those marks usually to be truer to the mark (And often lower in my case) becuase I do think the opinion of my painting and model selection is a little more informed from the peeps who pay 10$ a year to support this place.

As far as snipers, I thought the voting procedure removed any crazy scores through a filtering process. I thought 1\'s and stuff along with 10\'s got filtered out if they were X marks above the current score? Am I wrong?

So, all\'s well that ends well.

Anyone for that pint I never mentioned?
always. my round i think!

I owe you one Tim! Ale\'s all round :D

Just to add a little point, once you get an eight you want a nine, once you have a nine you want a demon, once you have a demon you want another one, or a big sword (so on and so forth).

We ALL aspire to be better painters, we are ALL disappointed by our scores. The last few things I have submitted made eights, I wanted nines! In 07 I got a Gold in the UKGD, I didn\'t in 08 and that hurt!

Facts of life on CMON:

Art is subjective not objective, what one person loves, another will hate.

Most people vote quick and something has to sparkle to get good marks. Either superb blending/highlighted, super-clean freehand, NMM, SENMM, \'Nu-Metallics\'.

Fad-ish stuff gets good mark, there is always stuff that is flavour of the month.

Sadly Tim\'s sterling work, although solid does not have the wow factor. I would hover over the 7 button, If I am drinking and voting anywhere between a 1 to a 10 (or accidentally close the browser window, start a de-frag, something random...).

Or I could be talking crap!

It\'s unfortunate for me, to have my favorite painter on the site not post any more mini\'s because some people get pleasure out of sniping peoples hard work down. :~(

Lot of fuss over nothing.

Its just a score, who cares.
I would vote a 7 at the very max... does that make me a sniper?
