Finest quality White on the market?

Just back to painting after a 2 year hiatus and having trouble with the final pure white highlights. I thought maybe the GW white I had had somehow seperated the pigment and binder as it is leaving chalky spots but on renewing and thinking back i've always had issues to attain a perfect finish with this paint. I have been using flow release to help and am now trying Vallejo white which seems to be an improvement however i'm still not getting the results to blend up seemlessly.

Is there any other white available on the market that you have found to be off a superior quality for high levels of dilution? and/or can you suggest any tips that I may have missed to achieve a seemless blend to a pur white highlight?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

probably not superior, but 2 white's I really grown to like:
- Vallejo Air Color - White : really dilute by default, and because it was designed for airbrushes the pigments are finer
- sorry the name eludes me for the second one, but the name (supra-weiß) and the bottle looked really similar to this one: http://shop.artundgrafik.de/epages/...bProducts/28100&ChangeAction=SelectSubProduct

also I think the chalky finish has more to do with using not enough intermediary colors, so the jump from the last color to the white is too big. You could try using a mix of the last color and white and only after that the white in pure form.

White is always harder but I really dig reaper white. I got it about 4 years ago and wont use anything else. It's the best I have used.

Jo Sonja.

I suspect the problem isn't really with the white though but with how you're using it. White, no matter the quality (or qualities) will tend to give the same sorts of issues if applied a certain way. Other that going with heavier dilution and more layers, one of the key things that might improve things is being careful not to apply it (or many other very light colours for that matter) over something too dark. So more intermediate shades between the midtone and the white.

Thank you all.

Will give the Vallejo Air colour and the Reaper a go, can never have enough paints anyway! And a little more patience seems to be in order with my intermediaries, turning that to 11 :)

Thanks again.

Oh, and Jo Sonja, hadn't heard of that brand before, many thanks Einion.

I agree with Einion in that 'how you use the tools and mediums are more likely to be both the problem and solution'

I use only GW white and work up from a black under coat and I don't believe i struggle.

Why take the lift when the stairs are better for everybody and everything?
