For anyone who is as tired of this song as I am

I am sick of that song and I\'ve heard maybe 10 seconds of it. I am mostly sick of crappy crappy shite music receiving endless promo and radio play, the profits being used to enrich some fat execs and sue the industry\'s own customers, while musicians with actual talent struggle to make ends meet (either because they have no record deal, or because the DO have one which is screwing them).

Many big name rock and hip-hop acts wallow in material excess, substance abuse and preposterous concert riders (\"catering must include 100 stuffed ducks, to be delivered to the dressing room by horse-drawn carriage\") - which is all paid for by their fans of course - all the while producing nothing of any artistic value. And their record companies make even MORE money than they do. This has nothing to do with what music should be.

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Not to mention, it must be good to someone. Its also selling albums.

Too true.

Real music is hard to find. I\'ve gotten to the point where I don\'t even try anymore.

As a musician (you know how we are..) I used to whine at the sh*te they played at the radio. But I don\'t do that anymore.. What they do, they excel at. Which is doing something that stucks even though you don\'t want it too.

When I told people I didn\'t hate \"the ketchup song\" my friends almost strangled me. But when I explained that it is more or less a cover of Rapper\'s delight by \"Sugar hill gang\", people became surprised. It\'s all about package you know. I mean there are very few people I know that would say that Tears For Fears \"Mad World\" is their favourite song, but they still might even cry at Gary Jules version (I like them both I must add). So before discarding Britney Spears last song, give her a break. Toxic is a great song imo, for example, and the production is ace.

This particular song is.. well I notice that I dance really wild to it when I\'m drunk so that has to count for something. :)

I agree that Toxic is great :D There\'s always going to be shite pouring out of the radio (for instance, everyone at my school is transfixed by vapid, materialistic R\'n\'B pissing out tuneless crap about Hummers and shooting people - no talent in that \"music\" at all), but at least there is good stuff out there, if you know where to look. And often there are good songs on the radio. You just have to wade through the mind-numbing dance stuff that is played by a machine, and all the other manufactured, mindless crap that is strangely popular. That\'s why I rarely listen to the radio, but still... iTunes is good ;)

Don\'t stone me for actually liking the song.

I was watching music videos on the spanish language chanel the other day and they played \"Hips Don\'t Lie\" with the English lyrics. There were Spanish subtitles, but they did not match the English words at all. They were incredibly graphic descriptions of sex. Now I wonder what the Spanish language version actually says.

Oh, and I like this video, even though it\'s not at all related to this subject.

I got sick of Outkast\'s \"Hey Ya\', then I heard this version:

that\'s actually really good.

reminds me of when I heard Anne Previn sing \"Torn\" (which she wrote, but which Natalie Imbruglia made famous) acoustically.
Wow. I felt like crying.

I\'m sure not everyone at school likes \"vapid, materialistic R\'n\'B pissing out tuneless crap about Hummers and shooting people\". That\'s just a generalisation that\'s used against rap/hiphop/rnb music. Of course a lot of it is like that, but like with every type/genre of music you have to sift through crap to find the gems. :D

I agree! Thats great!

EDIT...speaking of POP music and what it does to the \'stars\'....

I can remember when Gwen Stefani (in NO DOUBT) actually had some pretty cool lyrics and a great style and something to say...for instance \"I\'m just a Girl\" was an incredibly well done song. Now, as the \'sex symbol\' she puts out crap like that Holla Back song.
