Wow. I felt like crying.

This should make you really weep...:bouncy:

I am sick of that song and I\'ve heard maybe 10 seconds of it. I am mostly sick of crappy crappy shite music receiving endless promo and radio play, the profits being used to enrich some fat execs and sue the industry\'s own customers, while musicians with actual talent struggle to make ends meet (either because they have no record deal, or because the DO have one which is screwing them).

Many big name rock and hip-hop acts wallow in material excess, substance abuse and preposterous concert riders (\"catering must include 100 stuffed ducks, to be delivered to the dressing room by horse-drawn carriage\") - which is all paid for by their fans of course - all the while producing nothing of any artistic value. And their record companies make even MORE money than they do. This has nothing to do with what music should be.

Aye, but did you like the video?

Anyway, it\'s like anything else in life - if you don\'t like it, don\'t bother with it. I don\'t listen to commercial radio at all and I\'m untainted :D

I can remember when Gwen Stefani (in NO DOUBT) actually had some pretty cool lyrics and a great style and something to say...for instance \"I\'m just a Girl\" was an incredibly well done song. Now, as the \'sex symbol\' she puts out crap like that Holla Back song.
Yeah, this:

would sit a lot better on her if she was doing it ironically.

The video is very funny, by the way :)

Anyone ever hear of 50p?
(A rip off of 50 cent)

I can\'t remember the name of the song he parodied tho. They both sucked, but at least the 50p one was funny :p

That video was done by the local \"pop\" station here in Portland, OR. Fanch is the name of the fatguy.

Pretty funny stuff.

I found myself gagging. But it was funny, and I think that Shakira\'s actually nothing special. At least not in the facial aspect of things.

There is a lot of truth in what you\'ve said. From a marketing perspective the record companies are obviously doing something right. I mean, money is been made right?

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it), I only listen to Taiwanese radio and don\'t have to put up with much of the Video Hits stuff. But I wonder if some of this recently loathed music will be respected in the future?

I remember as a kid religiously getting up early on saturday mornings to watch Video Hits. Do you remember INXS, Guru Josh \'Infinity\', Sinead O\'Conner \'Nothing Compares\', The Hooters, \'All You Zombies\', Falko 3 \'Rock Me Amudeus\', Tears For Fears \'Shout\', Brian Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Psuedo Echo, Nick Kershaw, etc, etc... I not ashamed to say that I liked this stuff!

Ahh, back in the old days.
