from now on I\'m buying 2

I think I have decided always to buy 2 of every mini.

The trigger was deciding to give a mini to someone as a present - but I want it too!
Also, I\'ve been told my baseball playing Taelor would sell well on e-bay; but I can\'t bear to part with her.

So that\'s it. From now on, 2 of everything.

when i worked for gw i got in the habit of buying 5,6 or more of everything..
hence house full of white metal..
a habit that refuses to leave me now particularly when buying stuff for converting...I call it my cock up contingency plan..nothing worse than waiting a week for something cocking it up and having to wait another week to fix it....

Nope. For example. I did get 2 of the VIC9 assassin minis. I painted 1 up as a skater dude.
I just didn\'t feel inspired to paint the other one, and so I gave it away as a thankyou to an ebay buyer (wiccanpony IIRC).

In that case I only painted 1. One of the minis that made me start this thread I want to paint for myself, but I also want to paint in a different color scheme for someone else. So in that case I will paint both, but not the same and I\'ll only keep 1.

Two to tango

Always better to have two, incase one breaks, gets lost, damaged or otherwise. Anyway, the same could be said for even more!!!! Expecially when it comes to Ltd editions or exclusive releases.

I had considered the same idea. Paint two identical minis, keep one, put the other on eBay. Painting two doesn\'t take considerably longer than painting one; adds maybe a couple of hours to the process.

Not sure what happened to that idea. Kinda fizzled. I can look up at the shelf right now where my ADD rangers sit, still half painted, when the commission of those same figures I did have a year since been sent to their owner. Heh.

I should try it again, if I remember.

Definately not going to do this myself. I have far too many unpainted minis with only 1 of things. Doubling my collection would mean buying a new house... but then I would have two houses... hmm... wait a minute...

Well for me, it depends on the mini.
Good sculpts tend to attract me to buy multiple copies. *cough* SPYGLASS *cough* As does Werner Klocke\'s sculpting or special limited figures, like some of the Coolimini competition figures.

But If I\'ve been asked to paint a commission up I generally end up getting two of the figure(s) as a safety net.

Well, I\'m notoriously frugal (a.k.a. cheap).
I don\'t often buy minis, so if I\'m shelling out more than $1 for a mini it is going to be a good one.

Anyway, this does not apply to impulse buys as I was just in a hobby shop that sold model rockets and stuff looking for a new motor for my robart paint shaker - or a new paint shaker - when I noticed a Reaper and GW section in the store, so I ended up walking out without the shaker or motor but with a R warlords female archer and the musical instruments blister (not even exactly a mini and I spent more on it than on any prior mini).

I have been in this hobby long enough to know that everything is only available for a limited time.

If something is good enough to shell out my money I will get 2 because by the time I\'m ready to paint it I won\'t be able to buy another.
