Here\'s a better picture of my Silver Demon winning entry in LOTR single:

Arwen (Front)

Yep..I was pretty stoked to be awarded this. My first demon ever, but I still didn\'t agree with the judging in categories where some amazing entries did not even place.

Anyways Peace out

@Laurent -- I really loved that Bilbo. I\'ve left a comment on CMON; there is some fantastic detail work on him and your ork as well. :)

Here are pictures from the event, via a volunteer\'s perspective:

yeah! I finally got my golden demon. I won the large scale open competition. All of the entries were a pleasure to study. I\'m surprised there aren\'t many pictures on here. I\'ll post a good one soon of my winning entry.

Don\'t the rules in Canada say the same as in the UK that the model HAS to be ONE person\'s work?

I never quite got that rule...

It\'s not like one person makes a painted stock GW figure, they\'re all sculpted by someone else.

I don\'t honestly know if the rules are the same for all GD\'s, but this is from the rules I found on the US site:

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRIES
All entries must be personally handed in by their creator and registered at Games Day on the day. We will not accept any entries on behalf of competitors who are not in attendance at the event. All entries must be collected from the show stands at specified times by the entrant in person. These times will be published in the Games Day program and will be announced over the PA system on the day. All models should be the work of a single hobbyist. All work on models entered into the Golden Demon including but not limited to painting, modeling, converting, after-market sculpting, and basing must be performed entirely by the entrant. Neither models obtained from someone else in any state of completion nor collaborative efforts may be entered. Anyone found violating this rule will be immediately disqualified and forbidden from entering future Golden Demon painting competitions.

So...

so you could get away with one person doing a 100% sculpt and another person painting it?

That is a good question for the Canadian Golden Demon organizers... I have no idea. There are several rules for the GD\'s that are not covered in the specific rules. For example, you cannot re-enter a miniature that has already won a Golden Demon. Although we know this is the case, it is not specifically spelled out in the rules pack.

The US rules are very specific with regards to what is allowed: a \"team\" cannot enter the prize. The work has to be done by only the entrant, and it has to be their own work. To me it is obvious that the models you purchase from GW are exempt from this.

Isn\'t that illegal in the competition? All entries must be converted and painted by a single artist?

that isn\'t in the canadian gd rules, so it\'s perfectly legal.

At some point GW is going to have to realize that the Golden Demon is the premire painting competition in the world (visibility wise) and as such deserves to have some VERY clear guidelines about how this whole thing works. I know I\'m getting a little tired of seeing \'all green\' or nearly all green models walk away with gold and SS year after year. It would be nice if that was its own category.
Either way GW needs to regulate this stuff more heavily in every aspect of the competition.
Its like having the NFL use a part time crew to officiate the super bowl.... ??? wait, that is how they do it.

Nevermind.

By green, I\'m going to assume you\'re referring to sculpts..? The SS was a conversion out of the box if I\'m not mistaken.
