Games Day Canada 2008

Unlike the US website which states that entries must be done by one person, the Canadian website says nothing to that fact.

So NO no rule was broken \"Technically\" about a collaboration.

In other words untill canada gets its Act together and updates its rules to the standard of the USA\'s its a loophole large enough to drive a truck trough..

for those curious the UK website rules for Golden demons are the same as the USA\'s.

\"All models should be the work of a single hobbyist. All work on models entered into the Golden Demon including but not limited to painting, modelling, converting, after-market sculpting, and basing must be performed entirely by the entrant. Neither models obtained from someone else in any state of completion nor collaborative efforts may be entered. Anyone found violating this rule will be immediately disqualified and forbidden from entering future Golden Demon painting competitions.\"

One person per entry.

What I don\'t understand is why after so many years that GW hasn\'t gotten its act together with regards to the Golden Demon rules. You figure that by now they would have a standard template for the rules that they add to as required, and just update the images to show the latest winners. I am sure there are lots of \"hidden\" rules that newbies (and some vets) don\'t know about. The Golden Demons is a big event... I wish that they could be a bit more organized about it.

Well , I was not thinking that it could be a problem...anyway my intention was not to break the rules, I was just not knowing anything about that...

I have a lot of respect for Dave, so when he says he is working this issue I look forward to seeing improvements.

Thanks for the post!

Vincenti and me were told at the Spanish Golden Demon that they would be standardising the categories and rules worldwide.

Guess that memo hasn\'t been sent yet!

(oh yes, that was told to us by the UK GamesDay organiser!)

Well, in Canada it\'s not technically against the rules, so no worries on that score. :)

Yeah the winning models are really beautiful. My rant was in no way intended to take away from the winners work. More so, it would just be nice to see these rules debates fade away. Since the Demon is such a big deal in the mini-painting world it deserves to be handled with a cetain amount of respect of the contestants that spend so much time each year getting ready and putting their egos and mini\'s up for scrutiny. GW seems to still view the contest as just sort of a whim thing they do.
The Golden Demon is a big deal.

As such the Canadian winners posted here should feel very proud. Honestly I think this is some of the very best work I\'ve ever seen come out of Canada.
Cheers.
