GD 2007 Mini: Already Revealed? It is so!

GD US \'07 Mini

I saw this originally on WarSeer.

What I think of it:

I love the sculpt, and how the goblin seems to be imitating the orc in some kind of hero-worship, but as also stated on WarSeer, the paintjob isn\'t all that appealing.

But what is it with GD minis and triumphant poses anyway?

He has a shield on his back. When I first saw it I thought yuck. I\'ll have to wait and see it with a better paint job i think.

It reminds of of a pair of hip-hop posers. I could see a conversion with gold chains and pants drooping off their butts.

My thoughts exactly Thomas. They would have to be flashing some gang signs or something. Maybe a large clock on the grot?

Don\'t like the paint job...
Not sure I like the figure either...

Maybe the best thing for it would be the bling option suggeted by Thomas.

Maybe a better paint job would do the figure more credit I don\'t know but at the moment it doesn\'t inspire me to want one other than from a collectors perspective which means I won\'t rush to paint it.

One of those minis that you can look at for quite a while and still not know whether or not you like it.

Like others have said, the paintjob isn\'t doing it any favours. Its not like its a bad paintjob, the blending and highlighting is all very nicely done. The main thing for me is the way the arms come across the bottom of the face - it leaves you with a large expanse of green that could really do with being broken up a bit. Maybe some tatoos, scars or even a metal piece around one of the wrists would do the job

On the whole I\'ll probably buy this one

Cheers

Hmmm... not sure about this one. I\'m not very keen on the orc figure at the back but the little guy at the front is cool... very characterful imo.

The paintjob is bloody terrible. You\'d think they\'d look at a site like this and up their game for significant promo stuff (especially given their current financial woes).

Not That Impressed!

To be perfectly honest it looks like a trainee Sculptors done it.
There\'s very little impact and no feel that this is an aggressive orc, in fact it looks more passively threatening than a real \"In your Face\" scrapper.

Edit: removed stupid rant...

I think what turns people off most about the paintjob is the skin colour! And, to be honest, I think that green colour looks terrible. It doesn\'t look like skin! It makes the orc look like a piece of plastic.

ooooh, so tempted, but I\'ll play nice....All I can say is that I don\'t see many people (myself included) that photographs their figures this close and blows them up this big and still makes them look as neat and clean. I\'ve seen this first hand and it\'s bloody great.

Please don\'t hold back on my account...

The paintjob is utterly awful due to the poor colour choices. The green of the skin is horribly garish and seems to have very little in the way of highlights or shade. The sword looks like a slab of aluminium... there is seemingly no attempt at weathering/shading/highlighting or any other interest at all. The straps holding the sword are a terrible colour choice. There is no contrast or interest here at all.

In short this is not an image that sells this mini well. Make a comparison to a Rackham/PP/Wyrd paintjob and the difference is stellar.

what your forgetting is that the eavy metal painters are already over worked and underpaid.

this was probably done on top of someones normal work load.

the model is poo tho.

I\'m a bit confused. Is this an Orc or an Ork? Sure it can be whatever you want it to be, but this appears to be a Warhammer Fantasy Orc, yet it\'s on a round 40K style base.
