The round base is becoming the standard for GD Models.
They\'re made as a limited edition piece for games day.No matter what we think of it it will still sell for 3 times it\'s money after Xmas.

I like it I can see a lot of potential in it.It bugs me that my GD entry next year involves a unit with an Orc that has taken me 3 weeks to convert into the arms folded pose resting on an axe like the Dwarf Lord....damn them.....

Hmm... I\'m not sure. The mini is quite nice. Something about his pose is a bit iffy, but it has character like all the best GW minis. The paintjob is technically very nice, but I agree that the colour choices are a bit off - but remember the EM team don\'t usually get to paint minis how they would like them to look, and it\'s most likely been dictated what colours to have the mini in. Add to the equation that this photo is 2.5 times the actual size of the mini, and it\'s really rather good.

I\'d also point out that EM standards differ rather a lot, presumably according to the painter, time constraints, workloads etc., and the painters often produce better stuff out of work.

Concentrating on studio paintjobs - compare these two, by Darren Latham and Anja Wettergren respectively (who both do have CMON accounts)...

...With these studio paintjobs (don\'t know who painted these):

Anyone notice a difference in quality? ???

And here are a few by Darren Latham and Anja Wettergren produced out of studio:

All frigging awesome, I hope you\'ll agree... :D

Bill, I don\'t think anyone\'s really questioning the capabilities of the EM painters. It\'s just that the paintjob (however technically well done it may be) of that particular orc doesn\'t look very good!

Pretty uninspiring, but to be honest the Games day figures have been pretty mediocre for quite a while now. In fact I\'m trying to think of the last good one????

Ork with BIG axe perhaps?

here is what I think, I love the model. though.... I can agree with everyone that I don\'t like the paintjob on this. and about the pose... personally I think that they the orcs have to look like they are triumphing since they made a dwarf on a demon head last year. but the thing is that you don\'t see that they have killed anything. so... basicly they could stand right infront of an 10 000 man army of dwarves from karak kadrin (as you might hear my heart belongs to the dwarves). and since orcs arent known for being to clever. so probably they would run in a coulple of sec, and then on the other hand... it wouldn\'t hurt if they had some pants half way down their butts XD
the painting is not too good... you could think that they could put a bit effort in it since it after all is the Games Day model. well... that was my oppinion... I don\'t know if any orc lovers agree, but I hold to my statement anyway! :D

The miniature is eh\' I wish they would get back to doing something spectacular as a Limited miniature instead of something that looks like a trainee\'s project.

The little gobbo does have character though.. I guess as a whole its just nothing that makes me go wow!

i agree that the gobbo is cool( i like gobbos) but i don\'t like the orc, because his pose isn\'t really orcy, more like an upset housewife!

I agree with dragonforge, and there are a few LE\'s (not just gamesday ones) that I personally feel were made and only released as LE because they were not strong enough to sell on their own. The Black Templar Castellan Draco springs to mind here.

I personally like this Guy, and can see him popping up in many a vignette/Diorama.
