Agreed,

Without whipping a dead horse (too much) I have had my last 2 demon entries at Baltimore ritualy taken off their plinths for examination and excluded from first cut unlike the majority of better painted models that made it with no plinths.

Perhaps the trend here is that the really well done mini\'s happened to be on plinths tho i wasn\'t there so its just my opinion

the mini that won me a demon was without a display base (possibly the first time i didn\'t think about using one!)

they show the mini off and literally lift it above the others for people to look at. all that black on the base helps draw the eye to the colours on the mini. but a display base can also draw attention to a bad paintjob.

if in doubt don\'t put it on one is my motto.

I agree too

Jeff made beautiful bases for me, espec the one for my grey knight FW dreadnought..one of the best bases at canada GD last year...but I never made first cut. THe base won\'t help, since it\'s obvious...my work just isn\'t good enough.

THe base helps to showcase it..so people notice it...and to make it look nice, but it won\'t help hide flaws or lack of skilled areas...

Thats ok Ainu, I just got back from a long day, of running around and I picked up my entry from the store. I did make first cut, and I took a quick shot of it here... Probably not the best to use a white backdrop. Oh well. The entry wasnt finished so I\'ll finish it up in time and post it with better photos when I get around to it.
