German Golden Demon 2007, 2nd. place - WH 40K Unit

Hy there,

this was my very first entry for the Golden Demon contest 2007 in germany. I never was at a Gamesday nor competed at a Golden Demon competition. So you can imagine that I was very astonished to make 2nd. in my category (WH 40K unit).
Some said the competition was not as crowded as usually and maybe I would not have been so lucky in an other year, but non the less I am very happy with how everything turned up.
I thought I would have no big chance because all my models are pretty old, or \"classic\" and some of the competitors took part with very new Forgeworld models. But it seems the modells were not as crucial as I expected...

The title of the showcase is:
\"Commissar Ciaphas Caine with command squad of the 597th. Valhalla\"

Some may know the novels about Commissar Ciaphas Cain and I wanted to make a little showcase about it. I really like the novels because the commissar is a very funny antihero... lol

yes on the bokk covers, but the book covers are wrong. In the book it always says he uses a laserpistol...

Really nice squad, well deserved win too, I agree that you would likely have done well even against more entries! The only thing I don\'t like is the snow glued to the bottoms of the clothes of the squad. To me it just doesn\'t look right, as I suppose the snow is designed to look newly fallen rather than kicked up onto clothes, thus just not right here. I think you would have done better, and shown off your painting skills even more if you had painted on the dirt and wetness from the snow.

Superb work!! The only minor nitpick i would make is the snow stuck to the clothes and banner doesnt look \"natural\" to me. Again, that is a very minor thing, the overall squad is superb!
