Google Earth Tourism

A couple of us (so far the only ones willing to admit it are me and Supervike) have been using the Google Earth with the CMON info from Etherion and we\'ve been looking at famous places.
This thread will be dedicated to locating neat places we see on the Google Earth map.

Each entry should include the name of an interesting place to look at and the latitude and longitude of said place.

I\'d prefer if that was all that you posted here, but I know this place better than that:p

So pardon the double post that follows, but I want to give an example.

airhead

Coffin Dodger / Keymaster
I\'ll kick in a few local flavor spots:

Nasa\'s Vehicle Assembly Building
28 35\' 10\" N
80 39\' 04\" W

Disney\'s Epcot Ball
28 22\' 31\" N
81 32\' 58\" W

A couple more:

Chesapeake Bay Bridge:

37°01\'40.70\"N 76°05\'06.59\"W

Those gaps in the bridge are places where the road goes under the water to make it easier for ships to go past. Fun to drive through!

The Pentagon:

38°52\'15.52\"N 77°03\'21.18\"W

And one of my favorite vacation spots-
Chinoteague, VA:

37°56\'14.23\"N 75°21\'33.89\"W

:)

Becca, I never thought to look at Niagara. Bodies of water get very funky when you set elevation exageration to 2.

And for anyone who says there are no mountains in Oklahoma, here\'s Mount Scott.
34*44\'40\"N 98*31\'54\"W
(see, Oklahoma isn\'t as flat as Kansas!)

Zoom in close enough and you can just make out some of the faces

Oklahoma National Memorial (former cite of the Alphred P. Murrah building - the Oklahoma City bombing site)
35 28 24 N 97 31 01 W

At first I couldn\'t figure out what this was and thought it must have been a joke by some techies. I think it\'s real though. This is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology\'s new building being built. It is the site of the old Building 13, where RADAR was invented.

Jeez, would it have killed them to have a simple right-click \"copy coordinates to clipboard\" feature? It drives me nuts that there\'s no basic right-click menu on this thing.

A few spiritual landmarks:

St. Peter\'s Basilica, Vatican City, Italy:
41°54\'8.01\"N, 12°27\'11.18\"E

Westminster Abbey, London, England:
51°29\'57.63\"N, 0° 7\'37.93\"W

The Kaaba, Mecca, Saudi Arabia:
21°25\'19.74\"N, 39°49\'34.60\"E

The Hagia Sofia, Istanbul, Turkey:
41° 0\'30.01\"N, 28°58\'49.29\"E

Great (Evil) minds think alike. ;)

Thanks Dave, I\'ve been looking for this. It was a tiny bit further west then I was searching.

@Vincegamer - I don\'t know what you were looking at, but these are the co-ordinates for the WTC -
40º42\'42.88\" N
74º00\'48.14\" W

In fact, if you just type New York City into the search engine the site will be in the lower left corner.

The Huge Statue of Christ in Rio De Janeiro -
22º57\'08.80\" S
43º12\'42.05\" W

I wish I could unzip that Famp file. :(

You are trying to open the file with the Google Earth program right? Not just going to whereever you saved it and opening it directly? I\'ve had no problems with any of the files and my computer\'s a piece of crap.
