hey Bill, you seem to know a lot about fish. I have a 100 gall integrated tank that\'s been sitting idle for years. I want to get it up and running again. Anything I need to do to make sure the pump and all is working? Don\'t want it to explode or anything.

Aye, they\'re gorgeous, but not yet, Bill. Wait for two weeks after your current hassles with the tank. And just 6? Why not 20? ;)

Uhm... fill it up and turn the pumps on. There\'s no way to know it won\'t explode until it\'s been filled, best do that where 100USG of water won\'t damage anything. Even then you can\'t be sure it won\'t explode. I\'ve got a 600l; tank with a 90l; sump that\'s been empty for four years, but if that thing ever bursts... and they do burst...

No, they won\'t be going in for at least a month. Still got another week on anti-internal bacterial meds and tonic salt, then another week with anti-finrot meds. Then I need to take it all out with a carbon filter and I\'m going to leave that for about a week.

I could squeeze 20 in there, but they\'re not cheap and a bi of variety might be better ;) I\'m going to add a school of these guys, and possibly two other schools of tetras (rummy noses, phantoms or black neons). I like these guys because they have such a small bioload.

Liz: 100G! Wow. You could get some nice cichlids in there. Test your pH; if it\'s high (7.6-8.5 ish) make it an African cichlid tank, if it\'s low (neutral or less) make it South American. I personally prefer having SA fish because of the options for decorating the tank (live plants, bogwood etc.). Even though my pH is 7.6 lol

Here\'s a shite picture of what my tank looks like now (kinda dark, I only have a 38w lamp so only lowlight plants in there).
