I had an idea to make a diorama of THIS :p
Iron_Maiden_-_A_Matter_Of_Life_And_Death.jpg

Can anyone tell me what era this is...?
I initally thought \'Nam era, given the grease guns and the shape of the tank (Early Abrams?)

Gear is US WWII to Korea - Early Viet Nam -

Eddy has on US WWII tanker helmet, and uniform, the SMG is the venerable Thompson - and it looks like a German Luger holster -

The other individuals all look like standard US ETO WWII, and the tank looks mid 50\'s Russian production (T-55 or so)

Hope this helps - all I can pull off the top of my head from work without my reference materials.

the artist that did the eddie stuff for maiden (at least the early stuff) based it all on picks from vietnam.

eddie was actualy based on a corpse.

I\'m going to say that its appears as a mixture of a lot of different eras, from my unegumakated opinion. The do-rag guy (2nd from left) looks straight from Vietnam, the weapons look like Korean War, and the tank looks WWII-ish.

Since they are skeletons, who says you have to pick an era? Have any figure you want as part of the zombie army undead. Have Zombie-Patton leading a pack of Vietnam soldiers with a Korean medic from the 4077th. Hell, have Zombie-Rommel teamed up with Zombie-Patton.

@Verm1s lol So does Sean Connery :p

Cheers guys.
Having a T55 seems a little odd, but hey, it\'s art isn\'t it.

And yes, the I recognised the good old Thompson and the grease guns :p

I think, if I ever actually get round to doing this, I\'ll take Pegazus\' tip and get most of it where I can - I\'ll only drive myself mad trying to get everything perfect :p

What do y\'all think of it as a concept though?

Actually I think it\'s a loose interpretation of a T-72 the soldiers are mostly in WW2 Garb The spats had been dropped and the helmets changed by Vietnam. Add that with Maiden\'s fondness for WW2 themes, I go with that, just not sure why the artist used a modern tank LOL

I think that the term \"loose artistic interpretation\" needs to be taken in mind: it doesn\'t seem to me to be a focus on any special era (gear from WWII to Vietnam seem to appear), nationality (the tank seems to be a soviet model to me too) or accurate depiction. If you look at the crossed M16 depicted on the front of the tank you\'ll notice that their magazines are about half a meter too forward: they should be close to the trigger guard, not almost at the end of the barrel. The artist took the liberty so that the crossed rifles shape would look more clear.

Pretty good as a concept Dan - my question would be what scale? In 54mm/1/35 you could prolly do the whole thing on the cheap.

Damn it DaN! you knicked my idea... :D :D :D

saw this among my sons records couple of weeks ago and thought to my self that \"this would make a nice dio... but do I have the time!?\"

kidding aside, I hope you pull it through and give us nice WIP-pictures some time...

To me the tank almost looks like a German WW2 Tiger (the ball gun on the front) with a Soviet turret. And looking at it the do rag guy has a sten <sp?> gun or a German M42 machine gun (the one at is always see in Hollywood movies) not sure about the rifle (German or American) but it looks to be bolt action WW2.
Just my two coppers.

you could be right there... if u cut away the turret and imagine no extra armour plate where the smoking guy is sitting, though it looks a bit to short in front... but it\'s an artists right to change things like that

Tiger Tank

the guy in rags def got a german MP42 (machine pistol 42) or (wrongly) commonly known as a \"schmeiser\", the real one was an earlier version of it... then the other \"guy\" in back of him is also carying a \"thompson\"...

Haha :p
No not yet - I don\'t mind if anyone does it before me :)

I have these ideas... Maybe only about 5% ever go anywhere, and even then only 25% of THOSE ever get finished lol
