Heresy Cyclops

Hi all I just finished painting this model from the Heresy range. I like this model alot and wanted to make it look a little gritty, I tried using a Codex Grey/ Dawarf Flesh mix for the base coat and then worked up the mix until I was adding a little bleached bone to get that unhealthy look. I think it came out fairly well.

Tim, the ruddy look is spot on I like it alot ..somehow i think his weapon would be a bit grittier..like dried splatters and use..same with the handle..the base is nice also..Harry Hausen would be proud of that Cyclops

Its the richness that I like so much! And the depth of color. How do you achieve that?

The only thing I don\'t like (and this is about the sculpt) is the weapon of choice. Seems too sophisticated for the big bugger. He should have a tree stump or a severed cows leg.

But, all in all I have a soft spot in my heart (and probably my brain) for big ugly monsters...this rocks!

@Mick....Harry Hausen is just his last name like Harryhausen....Ray Harryhausen in fact....But I knew what you meant, so I just thought it would be fun to razz you a bit....

Vikey yeah i agree about the weapon, its really cool looking but out of place on the miniature I think also..more at home in a fire giants hand or some such..hehe yeah im a big Ray Harryhausen fan..I will put up a green in a bit that Jason Wiebe is working on now and see how ya like it.

Very Nice Work. I like this model a lot from the front; But his calf muscles irritate me. They look like they are bisected. Nothing to do with your great paintjob, just a let down on an otherwise great sculpt.

Philologus, I didnt notice it at first but it is a bit odd looking now you mention it but I guess seeing its a 2 toed 4 fingered 1 eyed critter we can over look some odd muscles

Aye, I\'ll echo the dude and say dude, that\'s a good job.

The particular area I love is the heeeeed. Very big and stroppy looking.
