High Elf Griffon Lord

Long time no post. :)

So this was an experiment really. I haven't done a monster in forever. I also still want one for my own collection, and these are going cheap on ebay. So I decided to tackle the latest in GW plastic new hotness, and see if it was worth using as a basis for a human griffon rider for my own purposes.

It could be done, but I'm not sure I'll bother, we'll see. I like the flying pose, even despite the insanely large front feet. It certainly shows of flashy animal prints better than one sitting on its haunches at least. So, the verdict is still out on that. The model is okay, and for $10.00, I didn't mind the design flaws, and limited detail on the wings. However, if GW parted this out, you know they'd ask $50.00 or more for it, and for that price it would be laugh for what you have to go through to make it look decent.

I'm happy with it for what it is, and for the finished result I was able to get for amount of work I felt like putting into it.

So far I've only seen a couple of these floating around since they've been released, and not too many that really excited me, so I'm glad I was able to overcome what I woried might be was a pretty boring figure, and put some life into it. :)

Liking it! For the amount of work you put into it, it turned out pretty decent! Have to say my fave part is the tiger striping, totally nailed that. Feathering on the wings is really well done too. The immensity of it kina detracts from the char riding it though lol! the metallics could be a biiit smoother, but the variation in colour (black/gold) is well met. Solid piece.
