Hochland Highlanders

HOWDY. ok so I am still fairly new to sculpting and converting. In an effort to improve I have decided to do my WHFB Empire as Scottish Highlanders.

So I have begun with some simple kilts and the little pouch thingy. I am working towards converting every model in my army And will post as I get things going.

I plan to try and keep it all in theme with the Soldiers looking more civilized and my militias appearing more feral.

The color scheme will be primarily green and red on the kilt with the shirts being more white or beige in color.

Any advise/comments/criticisms would and will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I like the idea, I like the mini\'s and the added kilt would certainly look awesome, and the green stuff is looking good as well. I\'d like to see one with the kilt cloth thrown over the shoulder, (if my memory serves me, is that not how they wore the kilt)

Great concept and looking very nice now.
If you are going for British Empire highlander regiment type, the short kilt works:

But if you want more traditional highlanders, the kilt should come over one shoulder and cover the back:

Hey thanks guys!

I am actually going for both, with the soldiers( Swordsmen, handgunners, spearmen & halbediers being the short kilt type) and the militia ( free company, hunters, and crossbowmen) being of the later.


The knights I think will be a bit of a challenge as will few other units types, but I think it will be fun.

In any event, I think that a mix of types will give the army a bit of distinction as well as tie it all together, ie..the soldiers will have the short kilt and look more the preffesional soldier where as the militia types will have more the drafted local farmboy feel with the larger longer kilt.

unifying colors and some nifty banners and bagpipers and I think it could be very cool looking.

only question is how to get a kilt on a griffon :drunk:

Can\'t help you there. Can\'t find any pics of mounted scottsmen, and from what I can tell, Scottish knights dressed just like English knights.
Oh, and Griffons are best approached after they’ve eaten a couple of horses and are sleeping it off.
