snopes doesnt have an answer to it yet, and id believe (domesticated hogs can get that big), but something seems fishy about the photos (there are more angles on the websight). they looks shopped, and none of the photos have the people interacting with the animal, they are always behind it in such a way that the perspective is hard to guage (a halmark of many shpped images). there also appears to be a slight halo. the animal certainly looks much smaller in the pic with it hanging than this one...perhaps its because the kid is standing fairly far behind it. the shadows seem off, even for a flash...

seems dubious to me.

Especially when you look at the shot where the pig is hanging from the bucket on the forklift - looks a bit smaller there.

boy talk about some mean emails this kid is getting! i dont really know if he shot it or not.

but the simple fact that a \"fat a## kid\" shot a fat a## piggy is quite interesting.

those are some of the responses at his website.

kind of feel sorry for the kid.
i remember what it was like being 13 and over weight.

course if i shot a huge pig then maybe i could learn to look past that. lol

I have to admit that I have seen wild pigs (Honfelz (sp) Germany) that sure as shooting looked that big. But I didn\'t get that close as to measure.

That and there is no way in hell that pistol would put down a pig that size.

It would take something a lot bigger.

And I doubt a kid would be able to handle that thing anyway, looks like some kind of large calibre pistol, .45 or something.

And those things have given me sore hands a few times.

I did watch that Hogzilla documentary. And even after having talked to Steelcult about wild hogs in Texas I was really surprised about the size of that particular beast. Hadn\'t realised that pigs can revert to becoming fully wild boars in so short a time, 3 months or so.

As to the First Photo, It looks dodgy as there is no depression of the Boars carcase where the kids arm is resting. Looks like a case of Forced Perspective to me.
As to the weapon, well having fired a few in my time all I can say is that different people can handle different weapons in differing manners. So It\'s possible that behind the pudgy (being generous) kids arms there is a bit of muscle to absorb the recoil.

The boar is probably of a decent size, but I don\'t think the picture are real. They probably tried to fatten an already large boar.

In my experience I\'d say thats prolly about 800-900 lbs of pig hanging there - one tell tale to me is the fact that they think they\'re going to get 650-700 lbs of sausage out of that beast. Course a boar that big would not be the best eating - especially after just wounding him then chasing him through the woods for a while.

I thought the same thing myself but:

He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

Oh, they must be so proud. Never take a pocket knife to a sword fight boy!! :flame: That\'s also a reload right there (gun holds 5 rounds) what\'s the hog doing in the meantime, looking for truffles?

This I would tend to agree with. That\'s the new S&W .500, even with porting... the reviews say the recoil is manageable but they\'re generally written by fully-grown men who are experienced large-bore pistol shooters. Anyway, check out the casing, even makes .454 Casull look small:

Theres no way that things going down from 8 of those rounds, he would have to get within 50 odd yards to be hitting it with any kind of accuracy, and taking into account his size and ability, he aint gonna get all 8 near the heart, the only place to put the thing down.

And if you can show me a fat little kid who can run from three hours through hilly scrub, Ill eat my bandanna, I couldnt do it, and a pig like that is just gonna go,if its not gonna turn and charge, which is the more likely of the two, and no pistol is gonna put down a boar from the front.

Ive seen a grown boar, maybe two thirds the length of that take a .303 rifle round to the head, between the eyes, it gouged all the meat off the top of the head, scrapped the skull, and the thing didnt even slow down.

Finished off with a knife to the throat, and running away, letting her bleed out, poor girl.

E, that thing doesnt make the casull look small, the casull is small next to it.
Thats near enough a rifle round, but Id still think it would struggle to put a boar down, especially a pissed off charging one.

French, you cant fatten out a wild boar, that thing looks solid to me, and after carrying a few of those beasts, they sure feel it.

Youd get good meat out of that, maybe not that much, but its still nice meat, you just gotta tenderise it first.
Get the heart out of that beastie, frenchie may know what Im talking about, the heart of any large beast, especially wild ones, hmm, god thats nice.

Give a gun to the hogg and then only I\'ll call it sport!
I\'m fed up with this \"me have big balls, me killed big thing with big pistol\" attitude.
A child can do it.... proof enough!

Give a man a nuke and he\'ll blow up a whole planet, which would not say much about the guy\'s couragei!

I defend the right to arm bears!

Hmm -

Most hogs like that or of any size, in my experience lie up in country where its hard to get at them - and have tusks that are razor sharp and up to about 5 inches long - that the hog uses quite well, thank you very much.

I\'ve seen 80 lb pigs take a 180 lb man off his feet in a charge in an open pen. So wandering through scrub brush actively seeking an agressive animal - and trust me, feral swine are agressive as hell, I\'ve seen them attack vehicles - with a pistol is a fair fight.

Personally, there are areas right around the thriving metropolis of Austin where I wont go into the brush without a shotgun loaded with slugs, simply because of the poor unarmed piggys.

That thing must have been wondering around for years minding it\'s own business to get that big.

Then a fat kid with a gun blows it away. Doesn\'t anyone find that rather sad?

If it had been a lion, tiger, rhino, elephant etc, the kid would have been vilified!
