@Philo: Maybe the stereotype was entirely made up by the northern media, maybe there are no such people then
@Vince: Little bit of both actually... There actually ARE such people and they DO influence politics in the states. I don\'t consider it a reason to hate the general population of these places. I did mention I was generalising in the original post and upon re-reading I don\'t see where stated that every southerner is like that nor that the intent was so obviously to insult any perticular group, it was more about the use of religious belief to promote ways that go against what the religion says to be promoting than a geo-political argument.
The rest goes on in a typical forum argumentation way.
Otherwise, I would just have bumped into the discussion saying southerner are evil which would have been totally off-topic.
I may be biased, ignorant, insulting, and spewing putrid biggotry; but I am surely not off-topic.
