I finished my CMON entry!

It took me a while, but I finally finished my CMON entry.
I hope many people will comment.

This was quite an exercise in patience. I would paint a tiny area dark yellow, then have to wait an hour to paint a tinier area of lighter yellow etc.

My biggest mistake was timing. I was nervous about sculpting and anxious to get painting, so I painted the whole figure except the areas needing sculpting. As a result, her hands aren\'t exaclty the same color as the rest of her skin. I realize that was stupid, but by then it was too late.
Well, I hope you enjoy her. The easiest way to look at her when she comes up is by searching the CMON figures for \"pam\" as she hasn\'t been approved/gotten a # yet.

Hey Vincegamer,

Nice work, very original idea and I\'ll give bonus points for originality when I vote / post a comment in a sec. You won\'t find it by searching under \"Pam\" though. I would suggest looking under manufacturer \"CoolMiniOrNot\" and \"Vincegamer\" for submitter.

I haven\'t started my CMON mini(s) yet and I don\'t seem to have a whole heap of time I take it we only need to post one of them by the end of February? I\'m just finishing off another paint job before going onto a CMON mini (I really need to make a dent in painting this army hehe !!).

BTW Vincegamer thanks for the advice on heraldry, I have painted and posted my first knight.

Hey very good work there Vince! Shame about the \"sex sells\" motiff but it is one of your best paintjobs to be sure!
I do not have her only the male. Man, they are baaad figures IMO. The surface is really driving me nuts. Not smooth at all, specifically the arm guards and stuff. I am going with my Scottish clan colors, and giving chrome a go... Grrr, he is taking way to long though

Anyway I got my Freya done pretty quickly, once I decided on what colors for her \"clothes.\" I have something in mind for Grom, but am no where near done with him yet! I only hope I can get pictures of him to come out better than the ones of Freya. She looks pretty good \"in person\", but her photos really suck! I\'ll have to go lighter on the highlights next time!!!

i almost finished my freya and i gave her a \"natural look\" tomorrow or the day after you\'ll see (and i hope you\'ll not laugh too loud!)

If that is the motiff, it\'s not mine. I just painted her. Someone else did a nice modification of her costume to show less skin and make her Zena.

Hi Peter,

I had a look at your images, very nice. I think the montage picture is simply too big (184Kb). According to the note in the place where images are uploaded \"Upload A Picture (Max 100kb): Images must be less than 600 pixels wide or they will be shrunk to fit\". The second image (57Kb) should be no problem to put up, but I think you should put the montage up, myself.

If you have Photoshop 6.0 or better (might be available in earlier versions but I can\'t remember), do the following:

Open the image.
Go to \'file\'
Go to \'Save for Web\'

A new window will open.

Next to the \"Settings\" drop down there is a circle with an arrow in it. Click and select \'Optimize To File Size\" enter 100K into the \"desired File Size\". Then click \'OK\'

It will then optimize the image to be no more then 100k at best resolution for the size of the image.

Click \'OK\' and save the image. Done! You will now have the image you want at 100k or slightly less. It usually saves the file in jpg format, recommended, at between 96k and 100k. While doing this I saved yours at 100k.

Hope this helps. If you don\'t have Photoshop drop me a note and I\'ll email you the montage image at 100k, since I optimized it while I was writing down the steps.

Don\'t get me wrong, Vince. I really do like your conversion, and think you were a bit more creative in approaching the challenge than I was. What I found amusing was just HOW you modified her. I\'d never have thought of that!

I saw the Xena conversion too, and also like it. I have to congratulate those who decided that they wanted something more than a bikini clad chick with a monstrous sword.

I think I see the problem - I was actually linking the image from my own website as opposed to uploading it and didnt realise that the file size requirements were still important as soon as I get home from work, I\'ll optimise the image and re-post it!
