Inspired by goatman\'s lovely version of this mini, and by thecadian\'s NMM improvements, I decided to try it in NMM. What do you think? I have another WIP on the way soon (once I can get some decent photos  ), of Enigma\'s Ahnamoth, who I have been working on since Christmas and is only 30% done, and he will be in metallics. I was originally going to paitnt his Priest for eBay because they seem to sell so well, but it\'s coming out so nicely I might keep it for Youngbloods 2007.

Anyways, feedback etc. appreciated! :)

Thanks

I particularly like the neck guard and the parchment/pennant thing. Not quite so sure about the hammer-head but I\'m often that way with NMM - haven\'t quite decided if I like the whole idea or not yet. Anyway, very promising as always...

The tones and highlights on his face are excellent.
The chainmail needs a lot more work imho.
The rings of the chainmail need to be defined, highlights on the individual rings etc. At the moment either the paint or the sculpt has caused some of it to combine into a flat section.
The other nmm on the armour is starting to look really good. It just needs tidying up a bit.
Great Work Bill

Nice job Bill, the mood of the figure is very dark, and the tones of both the face and NMM can be compared to goatman, so you have succeeded;):).

Hmm right now I am wondering..and trying to figure out what paints you used for the face..I see a muddy green. white, dwarf flesh and elf flesh..but correct me if I am wrong

Thanks y\'all

Appreciate the C&C :)

James: Thanks! You\'re right about his trousers, they are pretty chalky :( I will try and fix this later.

Talonicus: Also thanks! :D Yes, I agree about the chainmail, and I did about an hour\'s more work on it last night to define the links. I hope it\'ll look better :)

SilAx and OB: Cheers. SilAx, that was a very very impressive guess  I used Catachan Green, Dwarf Flesh and Skull White (my Elf Flesh is kinda dry so I generally just add white to Dwarf Flesh :D).

I started with basecoating the entire thing Catachan Green, then blending up some of the highlighty parts into Dwarf Flehs, then I just blended the very highest points into pure white - I was trying to get a lot of contrast with lighting to add to the dramatic effect of the NMM :)

Oh, and the darkest spot (beneath his cheekbone) is pure Catachan Green, and the bit next to his cheekbone which is a slightly different tone to the rest was very slightly washed with Bubonic Brown.

Thanks again folks!

WOW! That face is fantastic Bill. You are going to be outclassing the other youngbloods with this guy. By the time you start the regular categories you\'ll be really good. Everytime you post something new I am amazed by the level of your improvement.

yeah, but remember... you have to make a cool base and something to make it all pop out for the judges to see it ith ll the other minis. but I guess you allready knew that ^^

As long as Bill continues the quality shown on the face and metal areas he could base this on something bog standard and it would still stand out like a beacon. No disrespect to other Young Bloods, but this standard is a class above almost everything else you will see in that category. Although a good base is still required. And of course it would have no chance of placing in UK GD anyway due to the use of NMM!

Now onto the criticism!

The gold doesn\'t really look metallic. I find it is actually best to avoid using white when doing NMM gold because it doesn\'t show in real world gold and it instantly makes it look more bone like when done on a mini.

The trousers are also way below the standard on the rest of the model, but that\'s been mentioned already.

Thank you all for your comments, helpful and encouraging as usual :)

Talonicus and Lono, I took your advice on NMM, hopefully it should look a bit better. I also fixed the trousers.
