I-KORE Shutting Down

(From theminiaturespage.com)

Cowan and Partners in Edinburgh, a chartered accountancy firm, are liquidating the assets of the company. The contact person is given as David McFarlane, on 0131 554 0724.

We have not been able to establish whether i-Kore entered receivership voluntarily, or was forced into it. However, we can report that in recent months there had been serious disagreements between the Board of Directors and i-Kore management - particularly in the case of the Xyston spin-off. One director in particular had \"big issues\" with the way the company was being operated, and was pressing for \"serious changes.\"

This contributed to what one i-Kore insider characterized as an atmosphere of \"doom and gloom\" in the company.

Receivership does not necessarily mean the end for the Void and Celtos game systems and product lines, as those assets are presumably being distributed as part of the ongoing liquidation. It is possible that another game company - or even former i-Kore personnel - could purchase the assets.

???

I\'m suprised this seems to be a \"non-issue\" on CMON.

On The Miniatures Page there are 3-4 seperate forum threads and tons of speculation, and discussion and argument ...

Here\'s the objective news portions:

and

http://theminiaturespage.com/news/?id=830290

Though now it seems a bit more hopeful for the Celtos and Void stuff ...

heh - I just saw the other 2 posts ... ya I\'m blown away myself - never saw that coiming (but who did?)

At any rate there seems to be a phoenix stirring and it looks like it may rise again ... finger crossed lads ... fingers crossed ...

tough business...

It just goes to show what a tough business producing miniatures and games is.

In this industry, far more businesses fail than succeed.

I obviously don\'t know all the facts, but I-kore certainily didn\'t fail because of a lack of quality products. They have some of the best quality miniatures out there. I have several of them, and it looks like I may have to scramble to get the rest.

It is sad when we lose an quality independant manufacturer.

I remember when DragonRune closed it\'s doors. That too seemed to be a \"non-impact\" topic here on CMON. I started a thread about the closing, and it didn\'t garner too much response.

It is just a reminder for some of us to support those smaller companies. That is no guarantee of success, but hopefully will guarantee us with many different choices.

DragonRune miniatures came back and are circulating again, lets hope the IKORE stuff can do the same....

Blimey, I didn\'t see that coming!

Just goes to show that this business isn\'t squeeky clean.

Hope the staff at I-Kore can salvage things.

Yeah, this bites!

I-Kore has some of the best sculpts for minis outside of the GW line, so if you wanted regular joes/janes with guns, they were CHEAPER and the same quality, and more realistic than GW.

Stinks that their game wasn\'t as big as 40K, but who knows? It hadn\'t been around nearly as long.

And as for the Celtos minis, while the weapons were sometimes too huge, it was nice to see more Rubenesque women, rather than ones that would snap in a rough wind.

Oh man, I always hated their minis
er, *cough* I mean, very sad to see them go.
It is becoming a tough business, and everyone\'s having to up the quality of what they produce. GW\'s been producing some some more stylized elegant confrontation-like minis, Reaper\'s chosen a more obvious method ;), and I guess I-KORE just couldnt keep up.

actually on TMP...

the story is that someone walked off with 60 thousand pounds worth of I-Kore stock- no idea if this is true but if thats the case then it was not because they couldn\'t keep up- its because they didnt clean house properly ;)

In discussion with someone (Famous on this site) yesterday, there was mention that another company is already making interested noises in I\'Kore\'s product lines. (no, not GW!)
As to the allegations over misdirected stock and Ebay selling.. Well that may be under judicial revue for prosecution so watch the space on that one.

KingM must be \"hacked off\" he was doing some freelance painting for I-Kore. (Hope you didn\'t get screwed over Matt.)

what a shame!

They have, hands down, the best female minis around. If you like earthy babes.

I dated an earthy babe in high school for a year or so. She\'s married to a woman now. Hmm, and now Ikore is folding. The similarities...

I dated a female miniature in high school! Talk about coincidences!!!!lol lol lol

It truly is a shame, though. I agree that I-Kore had some of the finest female minis around. Why, I believe I have at least three in my 4 million strong \"to Be Painted\" stock.

Asnd, just to go completely astray  (what a surprise), I\'d just like to thank Zora. \"Rubinesque women\" is one of my all time favorite phroses :D

I admit to being a cheap baste...er...broke. So I only own 4 of the wonderful I-Kore women. I love the stuff and in my opinion they had stuff better than anything else available. A few stinkers (e.g. horses) but mostly just dandy. I hope they get bought up.

Now, after reading that story, who can tell me where I can get those 90mm plastics?

Well, I too have to admit that I only own 4 Ikore mini\'s - the Formorean Sirens. I like the way the figures look over all but the Weapons of Unusuall Size and Shape just threw me on the rest of their stuff. Thats another discussion thread though - already hashed out and subject to sadomasochistic necrophillic beastiality beyond the point of recovery. :D

I\'m worried by the loss of I-Kore, as I assume I won\'t get the figures I ordered from them.

:(

But more importantly, It\'s ruined my plan to ration my purchases of miniatures to affordable levels. Witness:

Thinks

\"I want to buy some more miniatures!\"

\"No, I\'ve bought enough, wait until next month\"

\"But remember what happened to I-Kore, they might not be available next month\"

\"Yes, but Games Workshop aren\'t about to go out of business\"

\"No, can\'t take the risk!\" - Reaches for Credit Card...

:duh:
