If you guys decide on something like this, I could definitley help with background on an army. I love writing.
Not necessarily. Dark Angels for instance have two companies in different colours to the rest of the chapter. Using this as a precedent we could have variations on the colour scheme for each of the squad types (tactical, devastators, assault etc.).
Besides Spacewolves are all the same colour apart from the shoulder pad

@ Rosac: The choice of scene will determin weither we\'re providing the minis or if you all are going to just paint what you like that fits in and send it. We\'re not at that stage yet. We figure we\'ll let you all in on that proccess as well.

Our original idea was a grande melee scene but here\'s an idea if you are all set on an army-----We can have both. If we can get enough people involved we could do 2 armies and stage them in a battle. One good guys, one other. I don\'t play with armies so I\'d have no idea what would fight what but if it involves the troll bloods from warmachien I\'d paint some of those. I\'ll paint anything actually but I love those trolls.

why not paint a squad of 5 each, and give each one individual markings_ such as our avatars, or anything.
the seargents could have our \"names\" on their scroll work.
and, if people find it difficult to finish a squad due to time constraints, they could paint up a character.

I\'m in, space marines would be good and more people would want it as it\'s by far the most popular. Nothing too odd or flashy with the paint scheme, we need to be realistic about getting them done. Other than that rosac\'s idea sounds good bbut could be a bit tricky paintingwise. The names on shoulder pads is good too.

I\'ll second that - that Hordes faction is really nice; I\'d love to paint one of those guys carrying the cairn stone. They are also forest-based, so scenery for a diorama would be easy enough to come up with.

If it\'s two armies how about Space Marines vs Orks, ala, the new box set Assault on Black Reach?

OK yeah. This all sounds cool. About my offer, I only know things about 40k and WFB, so thats all I could WRITE. But I would be happy to paint something. I would just need to know what to do with it. Oh, and another idea. Has anyone talked to any of the say, top 50 people on here? It would be cool to get stuff from some really good painters. (not that you guys aren\'t) Plus that could fetch more money.
I don\'t think it should really be about making money, although as it\'s going to charity it would be good. It should be about something we can all do together and each have a part in. Sure a mini from one of the 50 top painters would fetch big bucks but they aren\'t really active forum members so it would kind of defeat the object.
In that vein, what would be more fun and personal to do? An army with personalised squads or a diorama with minis from everyone?

Hmm good point. In terms of army vs diorama, I feel like I could do more with an army as there would be more things to consider other than just painting things.
