I want cooler mermaids!

There aren\'t enough cool mermaid miniatures.

Sexy mermaids are something, but I\'d like more scary mermaids.
I was just reading about the Fiji Mermaid and found this very cool web site:
Juan Cabana\'s Art

I want to see minis on some of these themes.

Take one of the zombies Paul Muller did for Heresy (or one of his ghouls), chop off the legs, take one standard sexy mermaid, chop off the torso, put the remaining parts together and there you go! :D

Well, of course you\'d need to do a LITTLE bit of green stuffing... ;) But the scaly skin could probably be painted on.

i say you could make em too. i would use half a reaper ghoul, half a reaper mermaid, add some extra webbing, and b bam, got yourself a freaky mermaid.

check out my own freeze dried mermaid

i kidnapped one right out of the sea. i then put her into my matter accelerator and after being spun backwards for two hours she managed to be shrunk into a miniature. using the same theories of innerspace from the movie i then freeze dried her and proceeded to paint her. although i have to admit that the look of horror, anger, and reciprocity were quite hard to bring out in the piece, but i feel i managed to achieve this look.:twisted::twisted:

One of my side projects is an atropal from the Epic Level Handbook (D&D)... funny coincidence, cause it\'s actually looking a lot more like a fiji mermaid head than the art in the book... Hee.

Kinda been on a sculpting kick lately (though I royally suck at it!). Might try one of these fiji mermaid things after Gamesday.

Aren\'t there some kuo-toa or sahuagin minis out there that you could steal a fishy webbed torso from? That might work with the standard mermaid tail.

If you just want her to look evil, several of the scantily clad Reaper vampire, succubus or drow females or that six armed demon (Vandorenda sp?) might work for the torso.

Good luck!

EA, will that head be available on its own? It would make for some great swaps.

Come to think of it, why doesn\'t someone do a line of scary heads?

Vince, I will show you a new mermaid zombie concept shortly ;)..saw the thread and thought why not since we are now renewing the sea line.

I was planning it as just a one-off project. Plus the whole thing is based on art from the D&D Epic Handbook, so not sure I could legally reproduce it for sale or anything. Also, the atropal is a large sized creature, so the head is a little big for a 28mm figure swap. :D

Course, the head isn\'t really matching the art much at all at this point, so maybe I can make a copy in resin when I get done with it after all.

If I were a better sculptor and had the time, I\'d jump on making some scary heads though. Mostly focused on GD entries right now tho. :)

I agree, an emaciated, angry, less than attractive mermaid would be a nice change from the norm. Something unhealthy, akin to a rabid animal. Ragged tail, matted hair, skin stretched taut over bony shoulders and ribs. Nice.
