Idea for a new game/line...

Semi historical, semi steam-punk, semi sci-fi :D lol

My idea, which I mentioned a while ago while thinking about research was to create a new line of figures for a game set in an \"alternate past\" (Using elements of real history, and some total fiction)

Set in the 1940s, during WWII, the plot centres around the Tunguska in Central russia, and the happenings there since the \"Event\" of 1908...

Due to the remoteness of the region and the more pressing matters in the opinion of the governments of the time, no real investigation has been undertaken until the 1920s.

It is then discovered that the explosion was caused by something extra-terrestrial, and that something has happened to the populace surrounding the site...

I have a brief history, and my ideas for some of the figures if anyone would be interested... Nothing final yet, but just decided to \"put it out there\" for some opinions, etc

I say lay it out here. I\'d be interested to see what the pre-WWII alternate history would be.

Nope :p
But it does worry me that they have an Anglais option for the website that doesn\'t work :p
(And a pdf file that crashes firefox)

But despite not really reading French since yr 11, I think I can make out enough to see it sounds nothing much like my idea :p

I believe that they are the distubiters in the US.

That and check out the game/comic by the name DUST. Sounds really close to the original idea here, sorry...

Have you ever checked out crunch waffle? Their idea was pretty similar. Mix historical with real world myths and a little bit of fantastical quality to it.

Anyway, it sounds like an interesting idea but it\'s been bit difficult for them I know. So I would say, develop the idea but definitely measure the responses you receive. Proceed with caution but it\'s worth a shot if you think you can make it!

Mike Mignola wnet into this a little in his Hellboy line. Remember the big stone in the movie he sticks his hand into?............

Honestly that idea sounds better for a novel (or series of novels) rather than a game universe. In fact, that sounds like an awesome novel if done well.

The best game universes are very open-ended, with vague long-term goals that may or may not ever be reached (Ie, \"win against the forces of evil\" or \"destroy the Imperium\'s enemies\", etc).

By placing a setting around a historical event, you\'ve locked yourself into a specific time frame, even with alternate history. It\'s an inherent limit to what you can do with your game, and in turn, a limit to how many customers.

That said, if you\'re fine with limiting yourself and your sales to a a niche within a niche, you could make some damn cool miniatures based on this theme. Minis that would work well within World War I or II historical games or even Call of Chthulhu. We certainly could use some more variation in what\'s currently available for that time frame. :)

@Earkham - This is true, but I was working on the similar premise to the old sci fi series \"Dark skies\" - with real historical events still going on, but with the slant of the story to them...

@everyone else - Cheers; I\'ll look at all the other links...

I\'d be interested in seeing what you\'ve got laid out, thus far.
You\'ve got my email and all, already.

Well - so far as I can see, none of those \"alternate histories\" has the same story as my idea - and I couldn\'t find the crunch-waffle story...

I\'ll email you in a sec Naukhel
