Humans eating humans causes one type of transmissable spongiform encephalitis which eats away tissue in the brain. It results in a condition known as Kuru. The word comes from a word in the Fore language of New Guinea, where the natives practiced mortuary cannibalism.

When a species eats its own kind, nothing good can result.

kuru only comes about because they have eaten a diseased brain.

the tribes that don\'t eat the brain don\'t have anybody suffering from it.

and supposedly the meat is better if buried for a day or two.

So there\'s these two cows talking to each other. The one looks at the other and says: \"That mad cow disease thing is really scary\". The other one says: \"Yeah, I know what you mean! Makes me glad I\'m a penguin\"!

It\'s called Creutzfeldt-Jacob\'s Disease. You don\'t have to eat brains to get it, but it was uncommonly frequent among a people on some desolate island (can\'t remember the name) who allegedly ate the brains of their dead IIRC. Normally, CJ\'s disease is very uncommon.

EDIT: Noticed philo logus mentioned this too...
