Imperial Commissar

Hy folx,

I am a bit confused. I managed to finish my Imperial Commissar and put it on CMON. Today I looked at the votings and saw he got a 7.5 with 50 votings. I really tried hard on him and it\'s one of my better paint jobs by now (in my opinion). My old Imperial Sniper on the other hand ALSO got 7.5 with 60 votings, but I think it\'s obious that it\'s a worse paintjob. The blendings aren\'t smooth, there are less details on the mini et cetera.
What do you think? Why got both mini the same rating? What is \"wrong\" with my commissar? ???

Not sure anything is \'wrong with the Commissar. Thing is the two minis are probably voted on by different people with different opinions. Means that two minis with the same rating aren\'t necessarily of the same standard.

That said I reckon you may have got some extra points for the camo work on the sniper. Despite the Commissar being a better paintjob it doesn\'t really show off any painting effects.

Both nice minis anyway.

both are nicely done, don\'t worry about it.

there are good things about both models.

if you feel that you have improved as a painter with the comissar, that is what counts.

the model is good.. you must not be worried about the rate in cmon.. there are a lot of great minis that deserves so much better rating and other which has 9,4 that are so overvalued.. this site is good to read comments, to show your work and to meet people, but not for the rating..there are an enormous amount of people that vote without any idea of painting or sculpting, and so much people who likes to vote low marks, anotherpeople always vote 10 and that is not fair as well.. so dont be worried.. the best place where you can see your real level is in a contest, cause you can compare your mini with the others without the possibility of photoshop work, or other factors. i am gonna write a comment in your mini.. maybe it could help you

Your sniper shows a little freehand on the shoulder pad, plus perhaps a little more flash on the base (grass tots sticking up). Thsi together with the camo like Steve pointed out could be bumping the score on this mini up a little.

The commissar looks great, btw, dunno why you\'re still in the 7\'s with that.

Both are good, the sniper\'s face looks odd but the freehand and the nice camo and lens make up for it. A sniper should not really have shiny metal equipment, but whatever. Still nice. I would have given both an 8 even without reading this forum.

Don\'t want to rock the boat here, but I\'d vote both a 7. If everyone thought like me you\'d be buggered lol

I like\'em. The overall lighting seems a bit on the pink side, you might try to \'tune\' that out in Photoshop.
