Iron Warriors Vindicator LAGD entry

This one got an honorable mention at LAGD this year. I took my vindi from last year and added rust, rust and more rust. I also added a patina effect on the bronze areas as well as dirt and grime. Lastly I repainted the tank commander with some of the techniques and colors that I learned in Jeremies class the week before. This is definately my own personal favorite entry from this year. Special thanks to Lili, Jeremie, Jeff W. and Jason for hints, tips and critiques on this model. It definately helped me out a lot!

I\'m trying hard to find something to criticise on that model. It\'s difficult. Maybe the rear hatch is the weakest part but that\'s about it. Excellent job.

Well, it was a challenge I set myself when seeing it. Was there something that isn\'t just about perfect? That rear hatch being less as good was the best I could come up with. lol

That\'s one cracking tank it\'s just a huge shame that they\'ve taken the option of using them out of the new codex:mad:

This was an excellent tank. Probably should have got a demon. Far outshined my predator with the working lights. Mine was too red. It needed more color variation. I wish I had taken the class you took. I could certainly use the pointers...

Earthworm Jim!!lollol

The dirt was a mixture of Vallejo Matte Medium (thats what got everything to stick) dirt (from the park) pigment (from chalk sticks, and various additions of paint. I also built up areas with milliput to make thicker spots of mud. I came back laters and added the splatter which was just paint in various shades of color. The last step was adding lighter and darker shades of brown to the dirt areas to make them look a little better and make the streaks look less like streaks and more like mud splats...

Not that a tank this beautiful will see much gaming, but chaos, and Iron Warriors are allowed vindicators (GW wouldn\'t release a shiney new chaos vindicator if they would remove them from the codex)- its the chaos basilisk that the Iron warriors lose.

This rocks Ollie, it must have been 3 very special entries to pip this to a demon. Love it!!

You had a great competition even without this placing though, can\'t win them all!

Yeah, its a bit unsporting to allow space marines to have heavy artillery, especially then if they can have daemons and stuff as well.

But thats one very lovely tank.

Its got a heap of rusting and corrosion all over it, but its not over the top, and its nice and flat, without being just a layer of paint deep.

really like it, well done man.

Sweet job Ollie. The gunner for some reason looks to me to be a 1st or 2nd Ed. marine, not sure why ?????? maybe the pose or the head wound/scar. The one thing that I do think is missing is a radio whip and possibly some hand tools (breaker bar, pickmatic, a shovel) mounted on the top, to get all that mud out of the tracks. Or is that what slaves are for?
