Is it just me or is the Free Folk tactics deck among the worst?

Many of the cards are *very* situational and require more setup than other factions' card decks - do you guys think this limits the factions' potential, since CMON said they don't want to errata card decks but rather unit stat cards?

It is the worst tactics deck. I see what the game desgners were aiming for with them... however they simply take too much set up, have a mediocre results, and can be easily foiled. The majority of them need to have two units near an enemy unit to work. Seeing how easy our units are to delete, it forces the Free Folk to stick to Horde style of game play. Going elite is not going to allow for many cards to be played. While it is true that Horde is the default style of the Freefolk, but limiting a force to one play style can get dull quickly.

When playing I tend to ignore my tactics deck as they are that bad. Stick to just flooding the objectives with Raiders. Not great, but it is what it is.

At least bears will make it much easier to get 2 units in melee with 1.

Our cards usually have less impact than other factions, but our units, attachments and NCUs are way better, so it evens out.

Being forced to play the horde is patently untrue. FF can play with 'elite' units, and plenty of our cards encourage that (Swift Advance, Endless Hordes, Regroup and Reform, many of our commander cards) - but we've got to make sure to still bring along at least some cheap chaff units too

The tactics deck is weak, but like Autumn Leaves said, we have really strong attachments.
I've been playing around with a couple lists where I stick in 2-3 Chosen of Styr (best attachment we've got imo).
You couple this Mance NCU and it is pretty easy to get two to three tokens on critical enemy units.
A single endless horde can really change some games. I find it balances out.
I really smacked a NW player in 50 pts game of thrones recently by bogging down his vets with worthless raiders, Jarl sneaking his Stonethrower, and keeping his other two units of Sworn Brothers weakened the whole game with Chosen of Styr plus Mance.
If you are really worried about enemy tactics decks, try taking 3 NCUs. Lots of other armies decks get much less powerful when you are denying them the zones they need.

Played with a 50pts elite force (with chaff) last week against a Lannister force. Tyrion, Varys, Walder, and Tywin just shut down all my stuff. Managed to kill 9 models the entire game. Yes the FF NCUs and attachments are good, but when they have been shut down and the Lannisters tactic deck dictate the ebb and flow of the game , it means we are left with subpar 'Elites', and tactic cards.

The only game that I have won, was by flooding the board with Raiders. The FF do not synergize well for Elite.

Not to worry, I'm already on the fence if selling my FF stuff... I just find that I'm not having fun as when ever I play, I just seem to have all my actions countered or at worst have my choice of activation taken from me.

Every faction has a hard time with that much control though.
Elite forces are less forgiving for mistakes, too - I've found FF can play just fine with 5-6 combat units, but you're also going to have a much harder time if you misplay and lose a unit.

I have tried way to many time to make elite lists work for freefolk but I finde that the Best elite list is to spam giants and take rattleshirt commander in a unit of CDS and simply throw Away all the cards and only keeping rattleshirt buffs for the giants. (unless the situational situation arrives where i can get off a Group assuslt or something)

All in all i feel like My best games is where i get to use My while hand Every round. But sometimes i dont get to do that Even with a horde list. Sometimes luck just fucks you...
Freefolk is a horde army.. Its that simple.. But we got giants to make up for it.

Just a shame that Giants are still hot garbage. Far too easy to counter. Losing their ability hurts them more than any other unit in the game. Take away the ability from say Umber Greataxes, and they still throw a lot of dice and can do some serious damage. The Giant however can kill 1 model. Sure it takes a bit to kill now thanks to the extra wound.

There are effects that blank them but Ygritte is great for dealing with Walder.
