Jolie & Monti

Hy there,

I finally finished my last project and managed to take some pictures.
It was quite fun to build this base because this time I only build the floor from stewalin, the wall is made out of plasticard and the stone texture is sculpted with milliput. I found it too difficult to cast the wall from stewalin because I wanted a curved wall. This would have required quite a difficult cast for the modelling plaster, so I took another rout this time.
Both miniatures ("Jolie the scribe" and Monti, one of the cats from "Crazy cat lady") are from Reaper miniatures. Jolie was stuck in my tin-mountain for quite a while, but I always wanted to paint her, because I find this sculpt simple but adorable. So at last I had the proper idea for a base and she finally has a sweet little spot in my display cabinet.

I also took same WIP posts in my WIP threat, so if you would like to see some pics during the build process head over to this threat:

So I would be happy if you would vote for "Jolie & Monti" and any comments would be great.

Best regads

Given the quality of work here I am quickly coming to the conclusion that several people on this site (you chief amungst them)are robots or witches - OR ROBOT WITCHES!!!! Another ace job. I always like the suggestion of a greater story behind your work too.

Simply excellent! One of the best diorama I have seen recently, actually the best I have seen recently!
I just love the painting frame freehand... I will spend more time to look at it tonight!
Thank you...

really beautiful! You have done a wonderful job. I don't quite get the red skin though. Is she sunburnt? Its a brilliant dio though. Fabulous work.

Thanks guys. Happy you like it, it was quite a drag at some point (esp. to paint the details like the paintings on the wall or the pile of books) but I didn't want to get sloppy. I am glad I finished it before christmas, because I already have a new big project in mind, and it always bugs me when I have a neat idea but still working on another project.

@Demihuman: Wich feather pen do you mean? The one on the plinth is from a GW Imperial Box. The one on the bookrest is sculpted.

@Zab: I don't think so. If I would be a robot I wouldn't make so many mistakes. ;) And there are indeed some mistakes in this project. For the witch part: I am much heavier than a duck, so I am not out of wood and SO I am not a witch! (I hope you get it *winkwink* *nudgenudge*)

@sm51498: I think I went a bit to crazy on the red glaces. :/ As I am red-green colorblind it can get a pain in the a$$ to work with red tones. I should consult my wife more often during the painting process... I just wanted a very bright pink skin tone so I thought I would give it a go with some red/brown shades. Apparent a bit too much...

Don't get too discouraged on that because I think this is gorgeous. Just a little too heavy on the red for my tastes. I was wondering if there was something I was missing and there was a reason for it. Frankly, you are a much better painter than me so I feel a bit daft with that critique especially since I love this dio.
