Evening ladies and gents of the C.M.O.N community, decided that I been a lurker for long enough, finally committed to creating an account and learning how to paint miniatures. I have been playing miniature's games for quite a few years and have always played with unpainted or sloppily painted models, started browsing the forums here and at a few other locations and decided that this winter (East Coast United States) that will all change. Starting this winter I will learn to paint these fine models we play with and then refine those skills over time. I am in the process of moving so as soon as that is done I will begin building my work bench and then start collecting models to paint... until then I hope to see all your work on the forums. Until we meet again... stay classy C.M.O.N.

Welcome! If ya wanna learn how to paint, this here's the place to do it. Lurking is actually pretty informative, and you can learn a lot. That said, starting a work in progress thread here is hugely beneficial and most folks (myself included) see their work improve in leaps and bounds after doing so (assuming you're actually open to advice.)

From your OP I gather that you dont have much in the way of minis or equipment yet, so until you do please feel free to comment on any of the threads - I'm sure you've seen there's a wide range of painters here and they're (by and large) all very happy to see what people think of their work. Also bear in mind you don't need a huge initial outlay. About a dozen key colours and a couple of brushes and you'll be fine (some might argue even that is more than necessary. Others might suggest more. But hey! This is my post, and I say a dozen!)

Anyway - good to have you here, and see ya on the forums! :D

Ps - good luck with the move. I moved house a couple of weeks ago. Still not settled in yet, but getting there, getting there...

Welcome and yes as MIJ said you can learn a lot from simple observation alone if you pay attention. I know as I have taken a few tips and tricks back to my work after painting breaks and seen the results!! Loads of articles and people to advise you here!
