Here\'s my project for round 1 of Season III of the Iron Painter competition.

As you can see I am doing the fantastic sculpt of Kage Dar, but in my normal bend I have converted him from a militant figure to a sports-themed figure.

and here he is with some color and the holes drilled in the cheese hat.

OK, to get around the whole scabard thing why not sculpt the end of one humungous hotdog coming out of the end? Like a 4 footlong or something. Real heroes need real heroic snacks to see em through the game and they need somewhere heroic to keep em lol

excellent - but you must really not like this guy since you make him a cheesehead. With that hand he\'ll play like Favre too.
@Starks333, a tampa fan is by nature good - and jake the snake can\'t figure out what they wanted him for - but Garcia oh yes

scabbard

I totally agree about the scabbard, but I only have 2 weeks to pick a mini and paint it for the comp. If I\'d had more time I would have just dremelled it off.

However, I think I made a decent compromise. I\'ll post a pic tonight of the back.

p.s. Praise from the sculptor is very heartening. Thanks.

Jim,
I did consider giving him a horned helmet and using purple, but I think the cheesehead is more universally recognized and since he already has long hair, yellow yarn braids would be lost.

A \'cheesehead\' is a fan of the American Football team, the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay, being in Wisconsin, is famous for it\'s cheese....so the ingenious fans there decided to start wearing foam hats shaped like wedges of cheese. Brilliant bunch of folks they are. Some, while eating tons of bratwurst and drinking tons of beer (the other two things Wisconsin is famous for) will paint their bodies in the Packer \'green and gold\'..and go shirtless, despite the fact that its cold in Wisconsin during football season. Bitterly cold.

I have a particular distate for them because my favorite football team, The Minnesota Vikings, are arch rivals to the Packers.

I paint my thumb.
Brilliant bunch of folks they are.

My tought exactly. This is the cumulative effect of alcohol and testiosterone I think.
Thanks for the educationnal bits Vike, I especially like this picture:

Okay, didn\'t get to it last night, but here is the compromise I made with the scabbard.
Maybe it\'s a case for his umbrella?
KDSF8.jpg

Oh, and here he is, attached to the base and with his boots painted.

I didn\'t know what to do for a base and was planning on leaving him on the slotta, but changed my mind, which meant I had to cut off the slotta after he\'d been painted, which terrified me, and was not easy, but worked out in the end.

p.s.
What to do about the axe? Turn it into a pennant.
What to do about the draw-string money bag? Make it a modern draw-string bag.
Crown Royal is a popular whisky that comes in purple bags with gold trim and lettering, which people hang onto and use for various things. I just painted the pouch to be one of those:

I think the only time us Brits had foam hands was when Gladiators was on the TV!

Looking good, though i thought you had painted the boot?

*EDIT* ignore that, just realised you have uploaded another pic.

I think the empty scabbard works well....It\'s just like a packer fan to carry a sword to the game, and I am sure that was confiscated (leaving the empty scabbard) at the front gate....

This is really great Vince...

Finished

Here he is in all his final glory.

I made the bleachers by cutting up an old gas card. It was pretty simple, but I think the stairs may be slightly too small.

The final detail was the coca-cola cup toppled and leaking over the bleachers. Oh, and the G on the back of course.

Oh, vote for it here:
