La Masque de Slaanesh GDLA entry

Here is my favorite entry this year. It got an HM in a very tough category. When I first started building her, I found the pose to be very static and just not very exciting....so I added the tentacle whip and more hair on top which I think gave her a bit more dynamic posture. The little ribbons on the masks were a kind of last minute thing that JBT (bragon) suggested when he was out at the San Diego painting class in August. I wasn\'t to sure about it but once I put them on, I really liked them.

I used receipt paper (like when you buy something). I cut it first and then painted the little bitty strip. Then I just wrapped it around my smallest brush tip and it held the shape. I glued them on with Elmers Wood Glue. Not to difficult at all. I know that Adam Roe does the same for his banners and purity seals except he uses super glue to keep the shape. Since these were so small to begin with, I skipped the super glue part.

The model itself took about 30 hours or so to complete. The conversion itself took a Saturday afternoon. The tentacle whip took about 4 or 5 trys to get it right...it is difficult to put gs around a wire like that.

The purple was combos of these colors.

Black Shadow Color
Exlile Blue (P3) Shadow Color
Liche Purple (GW) Midtone color
Warlock Purple (GW) Midtone color
Ice Yellow (Vallejo) Highlight color
Deep Sea Blue (Vallejo) Shadow color
White Highlight color
Fortress Grey (GW) Highlight color

Those colors were used over the entire model...just in different combinations to create different shades of color.:D

lol, great, this has inspired me to do my own slaanesh army! the model is very fluid and dynamic, as you would expect from an eternally dancing daemonette. the whip is awesome, and very slaaneshi- especially as she has a power that is the same as the \"lash of slaanesh\" but slightly weaker.

gratz on the honourable mention, enjoy yourself!

This is actually beautiful - very slaanesh. And has got that \"I\'m not quite sure this is evil\" look to it as well. The painting is just top dollar.
