LE Knight Errant from Kraken Editions

The waters of the Ciar River were calm this morning...the stench of death permeated the air...our hero\'s only regret was that his help had come too late. A peasant woman had been killed the day before and an Avalonian temple ruined. He vowed that vengeance would be swift and many Aurloks would pay! He would bathe in their blood until Beathacrann was appeased...and the Aurloks were no more.

This is the limited edition Knight Errant model from Kraken Editions. I got this copy from Jeremie Bonamant at ReaperCon last year. I liked it so much taht I got two more copies when he came out to San Diego in August!! He is a fantastic sculpt by Allan Carrasco and was a joy to paint. It is painted in true metallics and the dripping blood on the axe blade was done with Tamiya clear red. It is amazing how stringy it gets after it sets for a bit. The vegetation is from nature...Washington state to be exact. My sister picked a bunch of different plants up while she was out there on vacation.

As always, I am open to comments and suggestions. If you want to read part one of this story, it can be found here... http://www.coolminiornot.com/200230

Very strong fig! I commented and gave it a 9. Now I make these points with the disclaimer that this fig is stronger then my last 100 efforts combined....

I\'m not sold on the face. I\'d don\'t think it\'s the strongest part of the model and it looks a little too stark for me to give it a 10. Ditto about the highest points on the tentacled hand, just a little too strongly contrasted for me to believe it\'s fleshy.

But the metals are superb, as is the model in it\'s entirety. With that critique I still want to remind you it was an EASY 9 from me!

Well done!

Thanks Scott...Nines are always good!!:D The face was meant to be dark and brooding....maybe a little red from the agressive physical activity that he just took part in. At least that is what I was thinking when I painted it. As for the arm, he is a symbiotic host of his tree god Beathacrann...in my mind I pictured parts of his body slowly turning into a tree (his hair and hand...for now). The strong green color is due to his just vanquishing his foe and being filled with magical energies. At least that is what I was thinking. Whether it works or not, I don\'t know. Thanks again for looking and commenting!!!

Hey, I give you kudo\'s for being able to visualize a story and then tell it with your figs! I kind of do the same with mine.

\"See the Goblin King just rolled around in some chalk, accounting for the texture of his skin. He rubbed himself in vasoline, which is why the highlights are OUT OF CONTROL!. The metals on the Axe? Oh he, uh, rubbed them in the metal flakes of death eliminating the visual contrast!\"

I love the time and effort you put into truly giving your model a narrative. Exciting stuff. Execution is an EASY 9/10 fom me, and I want to congratulate you again on tying that model in to a such a flavorful backstory. Checked out your gallery as well. You have a new fan sir!

I am confused as to how that tamiya red can become string to make blood?

Dude, Scott!!! Your story was way better than mine!!!lol

Sanjay, the Tamiya thing was a big accident. I was trying to get a little drip of blood to form off of the blade. I grabbed a bit of almost dried paint and started to dab it on under the blade with a toothpick and noticed that it came off in a stringy form. I pulled it all the way to the ground and there you have it...seconds later I did the happy dance:D

Oooh! Show us the happy dance! Please?

Very nice model, I was admiring it earlier. I\'m surprised that the blood is ONLY on his axe, tho. You\'d think it would go everywhere.
