I am reading about the intriguing \"Tunguska event\" - a HUGE explosion which occurred in Russia in 1908.

Can anyone please link me any other information as I would like write some fiction on this, and there is a possibility of designing and/or producing some sculpts...

(I was thinking semi sci-fi/steam punk)

The History channel has done a program on this event. So for 24.95 (plus shipping) you could get that. I thought that it was pretty well covered in the show. The largest thing that they where trying to figger out was what it was, meteor, comet, or alien spacecraft. As well as what it was made of and how far from the surface it exploded. Come to think about it try Art Bell\'s website at www.coasttocoastam.com/ and see what you can find there.

Hmm, I\'ll look for stuff later but I do remember seeing a documentary on it. One theory is that it was an air-bursting meteor. i.e. it exploded above the surface. I also remember that Tunguska has appeared in the x-files.

That thing has fascinated me for decades. One odd thing about it, which has been reproduced in lab experiments, is that the blast pattern, which you would assume would be round, is butterfly shaped.

Cheers for the help so far guys, but I\'m having a lot of trouble finding relevant pictures for the era...

I\'m after things like Imperial Russian military
(uniform, etc)

Civilians (ie. Local dress)

A very cursory search indicates that the uniform may be similar to that of the RA in WWI in coloration - but there was also a Grey and Khaki uniform adopted in 1906 and I cannot find anything on when they phased that out - and my eastern front stuff is just not as there as my western front stuff.
