Just wondering what you people add to your paint will painting, and for what technique.
I just use water. And somtimes when I\'m trying to wet blend I\'ll try using some liquidex retardant, but it hasn\'t worked for me so far :(.

I usually just use water, too. I\'ve tried matte medium, but it really only works on metals for me...As for blending medium, I wanna try it, but I only have gel retarder, which makes it impossible to use. It thickens up the paint and thins the pigment, so I get really streaky results. What I need is some liquid retarder, but none on the shops around have it.

Well, don\'t trust me...but....

Liquitex airbrush thinners...Better than water..

Wetting agent..I use photographic stuff, but only because I have loads. Basically something to break the surface tension. 1 drop, and I do mean 1 drop, of washing up liquid will do. (And that is to about half to one pint of water)

Slo dry...... where/when necessary. Like in the middle of summer...

Distilled water...everyone takes the michael over this but...it\'s about 10p a pint so why not....Besides, you would have had to have lived in Portsmouth to know why tap water wasn\'t good enough:flip:

I use liquitex \"Slow-Dri Fluid Retarder\", water and sometimes liquitex \"Flow Aid\". Works wonders for me, especially the retarder since I do a lot of wet blending. I put approx. 1 (small) drop of retarder to each 5-6 drops of paint. If I use the paint for a long time and it starts getting thick anyway, I add another drop. More than that will ruin the paint.

8 oz bottle:

1 oz. retarder
1 oz. flow enhancer
1 oz. future floor finish
5 oz. airbrush medium (but next batch will try watercolor glazing medium)
1 drop diswater soap.

All liquitex or golden with the exception of the airbrush medium - that is Createx (airbrush textile paint that I get by the quarts).
