\"Mini\" contest...

Comments and a few questions for Borg

I think there\'s a large amount of people who don\'t paint 54mm scale figures, so that might not be as popular of a choice. But that\'s what the poll is to figure out...

Borg, can you give a rough estimate on what prices might be? The New Wave specialty figures seem to be around $5 to $7, so I\'m using that as a basis. How much would a mounted figure be? $15? Normal monster around $7, large monster around $15? 54mm around $20? Would the figures be offered through New Wave as limited edition? (I think it might be a good idea as it might be able sell more models, making it more cost efficient... ;) )

Well, this is a different situation than a New Wave miniature. New Wave is a company. We make money as a business selling miniatures, that what we do. This little competition is not designed to generate revenue, so the price might go down a lot. Possibily $2-3 for a normal fig, up to $7 for a mounted one. But then again, it all depends on interest. If only 100 members want one, the cost will be higher, if we have 500 sold, then the price goes even lower. Also, who we use to sculpt? If you want packaging? Will we offer a prize or just do a VIC show and tell... all those are factors that will affect the price. Don\'t worry too much about the price, I will be cool about it, just want to pick something cool and let everybody have fun... this is not intended to be a money maker for me... and it probably won\'t be available through any other way other than through this competition...

\"Mini\" Contest

Ok - - All those interested...
Just received subscription copy of White Dwarf Two new Mini\'s out in July [14 in Uk]
Sauron from LOTR and ARCHAON Chaos Warlord.

Both will be large(isH figures, Archaon is shown on page 33 of WD270 Mounted figure (big beast) using a 40mm base.

Sauron will have a limited production life due to the fact that he (it) doesn\'t appear in \'LOTR: The Two Towers\', Part of the licencing agreement apparently(?)

What about using one of these for the comp?

Moderators - Originator of Poll please reply.

Well my understanding is that the Vote will determine what miniature flavor will be used.

Newwave will then commision a model for the contest fitting that description.

This way it is not a GW/I-Kore/reaper prefrence contest but a quality of paint contest.

Well, I think there may be a problem with the poll. It\'s biased towards one of the Sci-Fi miniatures, as there are only two Sci-Fi entries yet there are four Fantasy entries...

Current results:

28mm Male, Sci-Fi 45 (28.48%)
28mm Female, Sci Fi 10 (6.33%)
28mm Male, Fantasy 35 (22.15%)
28mm Female, Fantasy 32 (20.25%)
28mm Mounted Male Figure 4 (2.53%)
28mm Mounted Female Figure 16 (10.13%)
28mm Big Monster 9 (5.7%)
28mm Small Monster 3 (1.9%)
54mm Scale mini 4 (2.53%)
Something even bigger? 0 (0%)

So the Sci-Fi male is winning, but the majority of voters (55.06%) want a fantasy miniature...

Strong point. Democracy can be hard.

Would it be ok, and in sense/intent of the poll to make the first contest based on the SciFi mini, and next two turns of contest based upon the Fantasy-Minis ?
Maybe this is ok ?

Sorry for bad english, I am still german ;o)

WTF?

The deadline for submission, not for judging. As far as judging goes, it\'s a whim IMO.

On a totally different topic, Borg wrote: \"That is not possible... we have all kinds of ways to prevent that from happening. Can\'t tell you how we do it, but it is not possible to low ball nice pics.\"

Seems funny to me that a picture can get prevented from getting low scores. *chuckles*

The scoring system for CMON is based off of an averaged score from what I can tell; the more hits and votes, the harder it is for a score to go up or down. So all the times I go to the Top 10 and give \'em 1s, it\'s like taking a grain of rice from the fields of China. :innocent:

Snoogans.

From Mexico

I\'m in.
If the central store is in USA and it have delivery to Mexico (ground mail, UPS, Fedex, DHL or something similar), and I can pay with AmericanExpress, count me in.
This could be really fun.
And I\'m open to paint any kind of mini, any size, if it is well done.

Mini Contest

Here\'s my two cents...

I say let it be open, just select a genre and a scale (ie 28mm Sci-fi) or something similar to what they have for the Golden Daemon. That way participants don\'t have to purchase a specific fig from New Wave, and wait for it to arrive (since New Wave is notably S L O W with shipping...). Also, this way contestants can pick/convert their own models. If I wanted to participate in something where the entry was dictated to me, I\'d enter VIC.
So, once the bickering has ended, and the rules are decided, I\'ll make my decision as to entering.

Well, Badaab:

Here I am trying to offer something to the site and not make money off of it. Is a cheap shot at my company the best response you have? We will figure it out soon enough. I am getting a green in (a female fanatasy chick) and I will see how everyone likes it. If it is cool, we will use that one, otherwise, I will contact one of the sculptors to get this started.

And when...

...are we going to see this green lady?
And I think that to have all a comon mini is going to be better, you really are going to win based in your painting skills, not because of the awesome miniature you got.
I also think that could be good if the \"transformations\" are limited... Whats the idea of using the same mini to have in the end girls with 6 arms, and cosmic clocks as a base? Is going to distract. From my point of view. ;)
