\"Mini\" contest...

I\'d prefer the male. Otherwise I\'ll just have to go for the worst skin award :innocent:

I wouldn\'t mind if the choice was there, but it would probably make judging that much harder.

And you can count on me buying at least 2.

Borg has already said that he will do his best to get shipping costs to a bare minimum. By utilizing all their affiliates and whatever else he can do, it should make these things really cheap to pick up (if you are entering the contest that is).

I too know what the typical shipping costs outside of the US are like, I was ordering $8 worth of blisters I can\'t buy locally and they wanted $15 shipping. No thanks

I think we all should thank Borg for being so interested in this idea. Making two great models cheaply available to everyone for a \"pat on the back\" style painting contest is fantastic. Customer service to a new extreme. :bouncy:

Sorry about the lack of update on this contest. It is a go. I think we will do a 2 pack. The problem I am having is that every single foundry are busy because everyone and their mother are coming up with a miniature game this summer for some reason:) The convention season also have taken a lot of out of my time. But as soon as Gen Con is over (next week) I will put more effort into making this happen. It will happen because I already have the greens in my hand, just need someone to cast them and figure out distribution. Again sorry about the delay and I will have to all figured out soon.

Ah, too bad we couldn\'t have finished it before Gen Con! We could have picked some up there and not had any shipping charges! ;)

Boy or Girl

My vote is for the male for many reasons.
I find it funny that the negative comments have been that HIS sword is too big. Excuse me, but what is that enormous thing she\'s holding? Looks like she decided to use the ship\'s keel as a weapon.lol

Maybe if they are sold in pairs, there should be 2 categories in the contest? Or maybe we could do the pair...

Mini Contest. . . the continuing saga

I think both the figures are average-good sculpts, generic fantasy types that would work well for hte contest. If we end up with one, I\'d prefer the female, as the male is more boring to me, but I really like Borg\'s idea of a two pack. It utilizes both, gives people the opportunity to do more than one style in the contest, and more than anything, might make the endless debate over which is better, a moot point. :)

And yes, I think both ot their swords are retarded, but thats just me. :) I\'ll swap them out.

More than anything, I think Borg deserves major kudos for working on this. I hope everyone realizes that he\'s undertaking a fair amount of extra work to facilitate it, and I think complaining about shipping and prices is a bit juvenial. Yes, I realize not everyone is rich, yes I realize some people live in more remote areas with poorer distribution/postal delivery. These are facts of life, and I urge folks to remember that if the final details aren\'t to their liking. There is no way everyone is going to be able to get exactly what they would most wish for from this. I\'m interested in this for the fun of the community project, and I believe that is where this endeavor has its greatest value. To prove that a bunch of goofy miniatures-geeks, spread across the globe, can put the minor differences in taste and opinion aside, and enjoy the experience of a community collaborative project. Sure contests are fun, prizes are cool, etc, but if you\'re voicing your opinions solely on getting the best angle to win, I urge you to take it easy, and relax a touch. Honestly I wouldnt purchase either of these miniatures for my collection otherwise, but because of the event, the fun of everyone getting to hash things out afterward, talk about it, and more than anything else: the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by each other, I\'m absolutely going to participate. Wether I like the miniatures or not.

So. Perhaps I come off as a preachy hippy. . .so be it. But I think CMON is a unique community, and this project a great facet of it, and just want to see it go off with as much enthusiasm and enjoyment as possible, and little worry, stress, or complaint.

take it easy all.

Don\'t paint for the rating, dont paint for the number. Paint for the colors, the shapes, and the enjoyment.

Wow, this thread is loading some kind of slow :( I think we are moving to a new server in a month or two, the site has grown in leaps and bounce.

Anyway, back to the topic. Yes, it would have been great for us to be able to sell them at Gen Con so people can pick them up, but like I said before, there are no foundry with extra time to do this before Gen Con, so we have to wait. Shipping on them should be under $1, so it should not be a problem for the U.S. people, For Europe, I would have to do a little more figuring, like how much would it cost to send them in bulk to one spot in Europe and then send from there. But those are minor details and i will work it out.

As far as the sculpts, they look much better in person, and if you don\'t like the weapons, I think most of you will have no problem doing some conversions, so no problem there.

So most likely, I will close this thread and start another one so it loads faster and I will get on it as soon as i get back from Gen Con.
