Can I post a WIP from ME 14? I\'m about 2 ME behind on my painting :D

If you guys can keep this thread going for about 8 months I should have some ME 16 work to post.

Just do what I do with my back taxes: skip a few and catch up, and hope nobody catches on lol

You can go, what is it three years without filing, as long as they owe you money? We\'ve used that before and again this year.

I hate to skip any, as one of the reasons I got involved with ME was to get me to paint again. I promised myself I would paint at least one mini per ME, and I intend to stick to it.

So here is my WIP from ME 14...

me16wip1xa8.jpg

It\'s cleaned, assembled, pinned and gaps are filled. It\'s not attached to the base but there are pins there for attaching it later. That\'s pretty good progress for me so far :D Note the awesome base is from desertdragon1964 from ME 11. The mini is from Stro and it was actually ME 13 now that I check my history, I skipped 14, forgot about that.

Sometime soon maybe I will prime it ;)

Picked up a bunch of new painting tools too that I will get to actually try out, including some brush cleaner, brush conditioner, the tools to attempt to make a wet pallet, some new W&N brushes (first ones for me) and a Colour Wheel. We\'ll see if that helps me at all. I picked up a wire cutter and new pair of clippers as well, that was after impailing my finger with a paperclip while trying to pin this girls foot.

what girl? ;)
And why did you try to pin her foot? ???
That\'s not a good to pick up chicks dude :p

Edit: Thought I suppose it stops them getting AWAY ;)

So hard to tell with the ogres. It\'s like dwarf chicks with the beards \'n\' all. Just like that \'cept, well... different.

I dunno, that pair of hangers is pretty obvious to me.

Maybe when I paint her up I will add some make up to accentuate her natural beauty.

Dwarven women with beards always seemed more appealing to me then Halfling Women with hairy feet.

Oh - now you said it I can see... :|~ lol

Not THAT obvious from the pic though. Nice base - did DesertDragon make it or is it from somewhere?

A side shot probably would have worked better, but I didn\'t want to break the camera.

DesertDragon made the base himself. He sent me a small lot of resin stuff he had made back for my first ME. The halfling in my Gallery is from him and is also mounted on one of his bases. I think I have one square one left with a woodland scrub kind of look.

Many years ago I once helped my girlfriend at the time with a dwarf costume for a LARP type thing including a full beard done with costume hair stuff and spirit gum to hold it in place. In some sick way it was kinda attractive.

Dunno if I succeeded but I tried to write that in such a way that it wouldn\'t implicate me in ever having taken part in a LARP type thingie. :drunk:

HAHA!

Well... sadly we\'ve managed to hijack the thread to discuss fetishes and socially-awkward hobbies. As entertaining as that is, I\'m still looking forward to seeing WIPs from the exchange.

I managed to find a box of old Elfquest (remember that comic?) miniatures in the garage. Don\'t think that box had been opened in 20-25 years! Might try to work one into the next exchange. =)

Post more WIPs!!!

Remember Elfquest, my wife still collects it. If you are willing to pass those on maybe we can work something out. I have a small set I bought on ebay, but it\'s just a few of the wolfriders and the wolves, I would love to complete the set for her and pick up some of the free standing elves.

Elfquest minis are great! Tiny, but great examples of Julie Guthrie\'s outstanding sculpting skills. Which boxed set do you have in your garage?

I am slowly repainting all of my old EQ minis - I have a mounted Dewshine and Scouter in my gallery, as well as Bone Woman, Nonna & Adar. I am going to paint the Priest of Gotara next - I want to finish the humans before moving on to the trolls and elves.

@Gilvan Blight - have you tried to paint anny of the EQ minis I sent you? They define eye strain!

The one I found was the \"End of the Quest\" box. They\'re all (10 models) random elves or trolls on foot. I painted a couple. Heh... funny to see stuff I painted in my teens.

I should have several more boxes around somewhere. I had a bunch of the wolf-mounted elves, as well. I\'ll have to go dig around some more.

Good lord but they are tiny, aren\'t they?

@GB - Let me see what all I can find. I imagine there are a couple that I\'d like to keep, but likely not all. I found the old RPG they released, too! Funny stuff. =P

@treide - That\'s right I got them off you, I was thinking I got them on ebay. I know I\'ve bid on them enough times and lost. I bought them for my wife actually who does paint but less frequently then I do, and that\'s saying something. She has them displayed on one of her many bookshelves along with some of her books and other \'trinkets\'. I\'m sure she plans on painting them someday, but who knows when. Gwendolen keeps her pretty busy right now, so maybe in a year.

@arogers907 if you are willing to trade/sell them I would be interested for sure. I\'ve got a ton of old Ral Partha, Grenediere and Citadel I will hapily give up.

I actually liked that RPG, still have it on my shelf. It was the only game my Wife ever ran instead of played. Unfortunately she ran the module in the back which has you face Madcoil, not good for a first level party of elves. Still had fun, though we have to \'cheat\' to avoid the tpk. I\'ve always been a fan of the Chaosium system that this used, same as the original Stormbringer (the Elric RPG).

Back on topic - the WIP posted above hasn\'t moved, it\'s still in the same spot on my desk untouched since I took that photo.... sorry. You know what, it\'s finally not overcast and humid out, I may just go prime the girl, instead of sitting here typing about it.

Glad she is enjoying them! I personally live in mortal fear of the day I attempt to paint my Suntop mini - I may have to get out the microscope.

@arogers907 - The \"End of the Quest\" box is a good one, and it doesn\'t show up on ebay as often as the other sets from the series. Good find! I would love to see Guthrie or maybe Werner Klocke put out some updated EQ minis - Ember grown up, or the Wavedancers, for example.
