Some more progress...
But methinks the photos would be best seen against a black background (Remembers for next time)

ALSO - regards the metal areas... Should I keep those areas not in direct \"moonlight\" or \"eerie glow\" straight black (or very very dark blue) or ... ??? Something else?

I think I would keep the sword dark since the real focus of the model is the erie green glow. It does look (to me) like the sword ought to have a bit of the green glow reflected on the hilt and very bottom of the blade. I think that green glow on a metalic surface will bring enough \'life\' to the sword that you wont need to to much else. It seems to me that the sword would be more keen on picking up the glow that the cloak would... metal vs. cloth and all that.
Just my op. Great looking stuff.
:D

This would be true, however, the sword is held at such an angle that the glow wouldn\'t hit it...
Maybe a little on the hilt, but maybe I can cheat with some artistic license...

If it doesn\'t look right I can always go over it...

Okay this may sound complicated, but I think it will help:

The part of the blade right near the hilt looks like it would catch the light for sure. Besides catching it, due to being a metal it would reflect it, back onto the side of the cowl.

EDIT: your post showed up after I wrote this. From the angle it looked like the sword was in the night, I guess not. Perhaps then you could add a reflection of the moon on the blade if that is the light source for the rest of the mini (besides the glow).

So, I took the time to assemble the Vanguard I got from desertdragon1964. After looking around, I saw that most people put his shield on vertically, so I dared to be different, and gave it a somewhat different position.

The legs, unfortunately, don\'t allow for a great deal of variation. At least not at my skill level for modifications. So it isn\'t as dynamic as I\'d like. But I may dismantle him and try, anyway, before I start painting him.

Still, I really like the look of him, in general, and have three different colour schemes in mind for him.

Finally got around to posting my Anatomically Correct Devil

I\'m pretty happy with him, but welcome any suggestions. The lighting is a bit harsh, as I used the flash for this one - too lazy to bother with a tripod...

Well I decided to finish the wraith blokey and tone down the highlights on the cloak.

I also decided it would be a good idea to try using the new Vallejo Glaze medium I bought a few days ago...

However :(
It seems to make the paint (Space wolves grey at least) \"bitty\" and \"streaky\" ...
:cussing:

Any ideas why this is happening?
I think for now I\'ll just go over the lot again :/

often when i paint undead, or other minis with the gothic \"flavor,\" i DONT try to paint smoothly - that streakyness can actually be a nice thing to give the fabric a rough or worn look. instead of trying to smooth it out why dont you try to play in to it and add texture to the cloak. try to add crosshatching in places, and striations. just a thought....looks good though. and for the record, i, too, have found that clear coat can bring out brush strokes and layering attempts.

Oh I understand that FM...
But I dunno if you can see from the photo, but it\'s as though it\'s made the paint a little chalky...

Hmm... Maybe it\'ll be ok.
It should be finished pretty soon anyway I hope :D

^^ Yes, that\'s very nice. Any more progress?

This is what I\'ve got done lately... plastic minis annoy me, but I did pick this one to paint over several superior castings that arrived in the same box! And once I got going, he started to actually come together.

Finally finished that Ogress. Sorry I didn\'t take any more WIP shots. I had a love hate relationship with this girl that still stands that way. Some parts I love, some parts had me close to just tossing her out the door. In the end I decided to just get her done, wether totally happy or not. This had a ton of firsts for me, first use of a colour wheel to pick out the colour choices, first use of a wet pallet, first use of a W&N series 7 brush, tried out a new formula for rock, and probably 20 other things.

A correction from earlier posts, this was actually received for ME 13 not 14, I skipped 14. It was from Stro and the base was from DesertDragon1964 from the first ME I was in.

Wow I had a horrible time trying to get a good shot of her. It will do for now as if I have to look at this mini for another hour I will toss it in the pool.

Here she is:
