Solarmecharius: Thanks mate... hope to really bring out the savageness of him as I paint...

Added a little color to the bosses skin... I think I will end up going a little bit lighter with it though, maybe add in some flesh color. The axe is in the beginning stages, but the idea is that it is going to be instilled with some sort of magic, maybe call it \"Soul Eater\" or something.

OrkBoy: Thanks mate.

Did some work on the savage orc boss, mostly just on his axe. I really like how it is coming out, though I am contemplating a reddish wash for the skull and staff.

This piece is actually for a swap, so I really want to do a good job on it.

Ok, so a bit of an update on all four pieces. My primary focus lately has been the night goblin army, but I have still managed to get a little done on my other projects.

The Ettin. On him, I did the bone on the wood (i.e. the dragon teeth or whatever you want to imagine they are). Also, I did up the hands on his chest.

Arbaal. Finished fleshing out the flesh hound. Question is, and this doesn\'t have to be answered right away, do I bring the highlights up more. If so, do they go up to the flaming hot look, or the pinkish flesh look?

Ungrim. On him, I have done the dragon head up, hit the scales a bit (though I think they are going to need a lot more attention). Base coated all the metal bits and did the wood bits. The gold I am going to attempt to do NMM because of all the fine detail, so that has been started. And hit the skirt with some grey.

Savage Orc Boss. Hit his gums, teeth, some bones, and did that animal skin that surrounds his body. Anyone have a good complimenting idea for the furry parts?

Nice work on the twin-headed giant, it\'s got a crisp feel to it IMO. Also think that the Dwarf guy is coming along well, have you an update for him soon? :)

EDIT: Ooops, didn\'t see the shaman, I really like it btw! As for another complimenting colour to the fur, perhaps a deep red?

A few updates. As a reminder, I have posted a bunch of links at the top of the thread if you care to see any of the other things I have done. The links will bring you to CMON, where you can always throw a vote my way ;).

Ok, a little bit more on the dwarf (a bit of gold NMM, definitely not my strong suit...)

And a bit more on the Savage Orc Boss conversion.

Orkboy: Your wish is my command mate. Just hope that my NMM inability is up to the task on this one.

The savage orc is looking great, your painting has really enhanced the conversion and made it look special (I mean that in a good way ;) ) The dwarf is also coming along really well, like the effect on the banners - are they by any chance elf banners of some description?

Anyway, nice work, I will see now about voting some stuff... :)

Cheers,
Tom

And at CMON: Ungrim, Slayer King

COG: I find it really hard to stay focused on fewer projects (I tend to get bored easy)... but this is also why it takes me so long to finish a mini...

OrkBoy: Thanks for the votes mate.

Wow, it seems like forever sense I have actually worked on an \"Individual\" project. About 6 months it seems. Anyway, here is an Imperial Standard Bearer that I am working on as a tribute to a friend who has passed (Highborn Sycath)... the conversions were completed by \"General Kayel\" at Warhammer Realm. The model itself will be used in a combined effort army by the folks over at Warhammer Realm in the upcoming Grand Tournament. I really want to do the model justice before I send it away to them, so please, don\'t hold back on the criticism. The armour is supposed to be black armour with gold trim. The colors are Grey, Yellow (more of a brownish yellow), and red trim. The banner I am currently not liking (it is only base coated, but I still don\'t like it). I think it needs something more flamboyant than the average stripes and shapes.

The mini itself is looking great. The banner I can understand your frustration with. The grey makes it look a bit dirty. If you insist on keeping the grey you may want to fill that particular field with some more colorful freehand work.

It could do with a unicorn head freehanded, flamboyant indeed! Looking good so far I\'m excited to see how it\'ll turn out :) And a sidenote, does your camera have a white balance option? It seems your pictures have a grey/yellow/brown tint over them and I end up just going around in Photoshop to dinker around with white and black levels and your background turns into a nice blue and everything looks just a bit better. Just wondering though!

Well, firstly I want to apologize for my recent lack of getting anything at all done, as I am in the process of moving from MO to NC at the moment and just returned from a trip out that way looking for a new house.

On this particular piece, I have done a bit of research and gotten a bit of advice from \"beermugger\" over at warhammer realm on the banner that I really liked. Because this is a memorial piece it is only fitting to try and make the banner represent the inidividual, and this is how it can be done. What he suggested was to use Highborn Sycath\'s last name as a starting point: Melton. Well, Melton is actually a burough in the East Midlands of England, with there very own coat of arms:

post-2668-1205251801.jpg

So, I played with it a bit and came up with something a bit more warhammer:

post-2668-1205251839.jpg

Then I realized that there would be no way, with my limited two dimensional skills that I would be able to put that on the banner. So, istead, I came up with a compromise. I am still going to use the colors from Melton (green and red). Then, I will incorporate the bails of hay and the towers, and also the white griffon. And, for the warhammer portion, I am still going to throw in the old twin tailed comet for good measure. Still needs a lot of work (i.e. highlighting), but what do you guys think of the idea?

post-2668-1205252027_thumb.jpg

Thanks for the comments guys... as far as the camera goes, what I need to do is to get a proper photo program, as the one I have doesn\'t really give much freedom for adjusting color levels, etc. Also, I think my interem photo set-up is not helping, as it really drowns out the colors.

So, the boxes are still pretty stacked in the office... but what can any addicted painter do... paint of course. Actually, it feels like forever sense I have touched a brush with the move and everything...

However, I know that the guys that asked me to paint this memorial mini needed it by June, so I sat down and tried to get this thing done. You will have to forgive my attempt at two dimensional artwork, as I really don\'t have much of a talent for it. In any case, I finally got this guy to what I was going to call done (very exciting), and took him out to the garage to give him a nice coat of Dull Coat for protection... went and ate dinner while it dried... came back... and... NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use permanent ink markers to draw on your miniatures. For some reason, no matter how many coats of paint are over top of it, once you hit that bad boy with the Dull Coat, all that blue ink returns to you...

Anyway, I am in the midst of fixing this mess now... so new pics tomorrow when the sun comes out again. Also, sorry about the blurry pic but I was trying to beat the setting sun. I will make sure that the pics tomorrow are of better caliber.
