I checked a can of Fosters while in Scotland a few years ago. It was brewed in Edinburgh. The only thing we did was sell them the right to use the name.

Well in order to cover the french deserts we might as well add cherries and chocolate.
Did you ever see that Woody Allen movie (Love & War???) where Napoleon is pushing his chefs to finish developing the dessert named for him before the British can complete Beef Wellington?

Yeah, I thought Prisoner Of Mother England.
Well, You Live and Learn.
I can\'t remember where I got the understanding that POMs were from Pomegranites. Probably along the same lines as the Americans calling us \"Limeys\" from the Vitamin C needed to stave of Scurvy.

And as for the comment that most Australians were British \"exports\", I remember reading in some history text at school that there were a higher proportion of Irish people transported to Botany Bay than English. Is that correct?

I think the British Isles as a whole started us off well. With the gold rush in Victoria we got all sorts, including more than a few from California.

On another point, the 2nd Test starts tonight at Edgbaston, anyone willing to bet lead on the result?:D

So to Aussies consider the Brits stuck up and dandy? What exactly is an aussie manner?

I\'m afraid is not just the aussies, most people I know have that image of the UK. Kinda like american with hamburger and french with wine and hawain surfers. Bad stereotype that just stay there :p

We are stuck up because we use soap... :D

As far as I know yes it is correct, the bulk of transportees were from Irish stock (bloody troublemakers the lot of \'em :D)

The offer will be open till the end of Day 2.

I\'m not the greatest cricket fan, but the ritual humiliation of the English Cricket team has been happening since I was in High School, surely it can\'t stop now?

Australia would be a totally different proposition without McGrath and Warne.

Their fast bowlers are really struggling without big Glen.

Trescothick is taking them apart!

Forget ye not, philologus, that every guy is called Bruce and every sheep is called Sheila.

@finn: McGrath\'s is a lager, just like Warne\'s. I dunno who Foster was, but every Aussie must\'ve wanted to drink his piss at some point.
