I am not a collector of High Elves but that looks like it could be worth adding to my collection of projects.
Though GW is producing more and more plastics I don\'t think that we will see metal casts completely dissappear.
I hope not anyway.

well

I think these elves look really good. Even if they are plastic. I much prefer metal, but at least the GW plastics are getting better. At least, in my opinion they are. I thought the Empire Free Company plastics were very good, with a lot of great bits for variations.

plastics v. metal

From what I understood GW bought their own plastics division, so I am sure they will heavily tend to lean that way.

I too believe they will still stay with metal casting, but only for things with a much smaller production run.

That is indeed there policy and the reason for wich so much of there stuff is coming out again in plastic. they aim to add the maximum plastic in there range as possible. But I don\'t think this means metal disapearing. I don\'t have any thing against plastic if it\'s well sculpted, but there is somthing to the weight of metal that feels good in hand :p

As long as they keep their plastics improving I won\'t be complaining...... much :)

There are some things that must be impractical to do in plastic, eg models that they don\'t sell many of, since the metal molds for casting plastics are very expensive to make

The quality of plastic sculpts has and indeed keeps on improving, I have some of the original drastic plastic orcs and at the time I thought they were ok but to compare them with the plastic casts that are here now well they don\'t even come close.
Plastic models also make conversion work a whole lot easier as you get any amount of spare bits and pieces to use, not to mention that plastic is easier to cut and trim and so forth.
I wouldn\'t like to see metal minis dissappear and I don\'t think they will as plenty of other manufacturers make excellent models in metal.

i have to say i love plastic. it\'s light, strong, easy to cut and generally fairly cheap. the quality, as tidoco2222 said is getting better as well. they also glue easier, are easier to pin (hand drill in a couple of secs) and the variety in the sprues is great. although despite this, for some reason i wouldn\'t want to see metal go
