New workspace

Well, as many of you already know, I have moved from the deep woods of Missouri to the not so deep woods of North Carolina. Seems the rain and thunderstorms have followed me, which I really don\'t get. Anyway, I am extremely lucky to have a wonderful wife who truly understands my need for a proper workspace from which to paint, and she has gingerly alloted me almost 200 square feet of space just for that cause. And the room is perfect for setting up shelves and such. What I have done is set all my shelves up on one wall, and my desk on the other. That way I will have my back to all of that unpainted lead and plastic and hopefully will not be distracted by it all. I have also moved the computer into this space, so posting updates should be a bit easier (just as soon as I get my photostation set back up). It is still a bit of a work in progress, as I still have a bunch of shelves to finish putting up, and about 8 bins of miniatures that have yet to be unpacked, but I think it is coming along nicely. Also, I have spray painted everything with Black Lacquer to tie all the shelves and desks and things together.

Well, I will post an update once I finish getting everything set up, but in the meantime, let\'s see some of your work spaces.

I too have an understanding wife. She designed my space, all I had to do was build it, and fill it with my stuff.

:D

Right now I have none :( Moved in with my GF a while ago and space is a bit tight, so I paint like an itinerant gypsy, on the coffee table or kitchen table.

Nice, I can\'t be bothered to take shots of my room where I do my painting as I have taken over the whole room, to me it is untidy but Freakinacage took some video footage the other day when he came along as he reckoned it was tidy...so we shall see if he can download it :D

both look great, not sure what my wife would say to me having my own sapce though she is always saying that painting hunched over on the coffee table must be hard on my back.

I could really use a proper work area. But I\'d have to get rid of my stuff in storage to have the space. Can\'t do that. No, sir.

I have that same little \'wagon wheel\' palette, front and center at my work station. Scrape it off with a thumbnail into the bathroom sink every couple days. Heh...

I REALLY like your paint rack. You build that? Hmmm... how to make something similar with GW paint pots. /ponder

Oh yeah...

One thing I did with my work space that you might like is this. I went to Home Depot and bought a 2x2\' sheet of Lexan. I carefully taped 4 8.5x11\" sheets of paper together to fit underneath. Then I used a tiny bit of blue tack under each corner of the Lexan.

It gives me a nice, white surface to reflect light back up at the mini I\'m working on. It also provides a nice, cleanable surface for all kinds of rough, messy projects. Plus, you can slip pics and inspirational print outs underneath for easy reference while you\'re working.

PS: I\'m envious of your light colored walls. My workroom is all dark wood panelling that just swallows light like you wouldn\'t believe. My wife would freakin\' KILL me if I painted over it. =P
